DD and golf

Tom
My condition is fortunate -- only nodules and no finger curvature. But I find that frequent rounds of golf will be an irritant. I've gone to softer, oversize grips, which has helped. Good luck.

herbal, alternative treatment for dup.

I 'll be grateful for any suggestions for non-invasive treatment. I'm non-alcoholic 79 year old woman.
Thanks.

NA is barely invasive and does not cause TRAUMA. If you do not have at least 20 degrees of contracture, leave it alone for fear of exacerbating your condition.

PT

One, Nothing Causes this, you just have it. Golf....I have a friend that has it, and did not even know it, and plays golf, but that is not the culprut. I raise horses, and all of the physical things I do, did not cause it.
I have had other problems with my hand, and went into PT, and got some massage excersizes that seem to free up the stiffness for a bit if, I do them three times a day. It does work for now. I have to really keep on the exersizes, and massage. There is No Cure on this, make no mistake about that. I do believe, that Trama can bring it out, but, you already had it to begin with.
Two, even though they say it just happens to men, I am a woman, and many women I know have it.
Three, Make your own decision, I have resurched this for a long time, and I would rather have the NA, than have the cutting up surgery on my hand, with MONTHS of PT. Only to go through all of it again, every 3 to 5 years.
Excersize, and therapy , Does work for awhile. I know someone that has been doing that for 20 years, and still has not have to have anything done. There are specific movements and massages you have to do and it works. When I am done with it, my hand straightens out. Free of pain and stiffness.
No one can cure this, but , we can put it off for a bit. There are alot of people out there that don't even know they have it.
Keep up the posts, as I get alot out of them.
Thanks, Patty

Stretching

Anon,
Right on. The OT guy I have been going to gave me lots of stretching and holding exersizes. As I said, if I spend 10 min. in stretching and making fists, and extending, and contracting, I am in good shape for the day. Heat is good, to go along with it too. They had me in a machine, where I was in heat, and stretching and making fists for 10 min. before the rest of the PT, and by the time I was out of that machine, I was in great shape. I also have to do the massage of the area, going both ways for 10 min. and many other manipulations.
As I think I have said before, I have a friend, that is older than me, that has had it in his hands and feet, and still after 30 years has not had surgery. He does, do these exersizes everyday, twice a day. He did survive the foot problem, and is fine. No Surgery. I really think, the exersizes work to a great advantage. As even the doctors say " Keep Using YOUR HANDS" That means , Work them, and exersize them. If they go unused, they will default on you.
Thanks for all of the wonderfull , informative posts.
