Related problems with dupuytren~sq~s

Is shoulder pain related to dupuytren's ? I was just diagnosed today. I also have shoulder pain. Before I go in and try to find out what is causing the shoulder pain, I would like to know if it is related. By the way, I am from the Northern Europen background. The Scots.. I guess this is being called the Viking disease. I have also had alot of Trigger finger problems, which my doctor says is NOT related to this. Don't know.

Is shoulder pain related?

I have just been diagnosed with DC,my shoulder pain did not impress my physician. he thought that it was most likely bursitis, he offered to inject it with a steriod. he also wants me to go in for physiology. Do know if this helps? At this time I am having a lot of pain due to tendonitis in both of my hands. I was shocked to read that DC was a painless disease. Pain was the reason I made the apointment with the M.D. I have six fingers that are affected at this time. Correction, not physiology, physiotherapy. The Doctor stated that surgery needed to be put off as long as possible. My shoulder pain seems to be a tendonitis. Sounds related to me!!!!!.

DC

Linda,
Frozen shoulder and DC sometimes have a relationship. Several studies show the relationship. Dupuytren's generally is a painless condition. Often when there is pain involved there are other problems besides DC that are causing the pain.

shoulder pain related

I have DC in 7 of my fingers (defintely not painless). Also had frozen shoulder approximately 3 years ago but since recovered. I now experience pain in both shoulders that is different from frozen shoulder. Just a mess or related I don't know.

Tendonitis

I have recently been diagnosed with DC in my right ring finger and it is also starting in my left hand - same finger. My frozen shoulder is due to encapsulitis and is to be operated on "soon." Apparently pushing the fingers back will help slow down the effect of DC. Both of these conditions are complications of diabetes - so the doctors say.

Tendonitis

Linda, You have to know, that the tendon in the hands is below, and way deeper than the DC problem. When I had a trigger finger operation, and it seemed to be fine, I still had this cord in my hand, and went back and found out, it had nothing to do with the tendon. My trigger finger was fine, and taken care of. He told me, the tendons are below, the cord in my hand. The cord is a fistula, and is not the tendon. Then tendons go way deeper than that. They are not on the surface, as the knots and cords. He told me, the tendon, is below that, and deeper. I do think, and it is only my opinion, that people with Dupuytrens, do tend to have other hand problems, not related to the disease. As alot of us have trigger finger, and ganglions. I am a full blooded Scot myself, and have been saddled with this disease. I think there is hope with Doctor Eaton, and am going to make an appointment. It sure beats the multiple surgeries, and hand grafts. I am hoping that most of the hand surgeons in this country, get it together and learn this procedure. I am getting it in the other hand now. Anyway, it has nothing to do with tendons.

physiology

Hey,

So, your doctor wants you to go into the field of physiology for your bursitis? That sounds similar to my doctor, who recommended that I go into the field of astrology for my bursitis in my anal cavity. Neat, eh?
Cheers, good luck with your bursitis and your physiology.

SHOULDER PAIN

I am 37 yrs. old and a identical twin, both me and my brother have had DC since we were 29yrs.old. We keep reading it starts in your 40's or even 70's (NOT TRUE). My brother has had one surgery and getting ready to go back again. Some say DC is painless my palms don't hurt but the knuckles are very painful.Sometimes the palms itch though.
My worst hand is my right and I have alot of pain in my right shoulder. I never thought it could be connected to the DC untill I read letters from other people. It is hard to even lift a gallon of milk.Like the other people my DR. blew off my shoulder pain as no big deal and did nothing for me.
