Surgery Failures
Does anybody know what percentage DC surgery is a failure?? One web site says "high recurence rate - as much as 60% in some studies." In my own case, within 5 months of surgery (painful &costly) my little finger was bent back to where is started before surgery. The Doctor never told me there was a high chance of failure. I complained to Medical Board in Rhode Island about Dr Akelman's failure to warn me of possible failure and give me statistics of percent success vs. failures, which should be required before surgery. I talked with another patient who after 3 failed surgeries had his finger cut off, because it was interfering with use of his hand, since his ring finger was down to his palm. Are there any alternative to surgery? What is NA? Any good Dupuytren doctors in New England? Please email me with answers.
