Transdermal Verapamil: Useful? Or Useless!
Though many have tired it, I have yet to see a single post of a positive result from using Verapmil. The people at PD Labs are very informative and helpful and don't hesitate to tell you that they have success stories with DC. They have no names or testimonials, however. So where are all the people who have experienced reversal or stopping of DC from their product? Any on this forum? At a monthly cost of $269.00 with little chance of insurance reimbursement this is quite an investment in difficult to use yellow goo.
My two month experience is that it MAY have slowed the progression of new DC growths on my right palm.
Please post your experiences. For those unaware of Verapamil see http://www.pdlabs.net

Dupuytrens Sufferers United
On BSTC's forum for Peyronie's disease the story is the same - lots of money spent with no noticeable effect. The only supporting study I've seen is the one referenced on the PDL site. Noticeably lacking are any 'before' and 'after' pictures of successfull cases. None of the information on that site has been updated in years.

Randy, As I have posted before I have been using 20% Verapamil since May for Ledderhose on toes. The progression has either slowed or stopped as I am not seeing any enlargement as I had been nor am I having as much discomfort when walking barefoot on hardwood floors, tile etc.My insurance BCBS covered about $150 of each tube.Tube last4-5 weeks.I read that measurable results could take 9 months. It's a hassle 3 times daily but so is this !#^* disease.Since my blood pressure just happens to be on the rise I have added 240mg oral Verapamil daily to my program.Time will tell.I will give it 12 months.

Randy, Forgot to mention I'm getting Verapamil 20% from Talon Compounding. It's important to rub it in completely and let dry.Takes about 30 minutes.

Dupuytrens Sufferers United
If it's working for someone, great, but I remain skeptical.
Progression of Dupuytren's/Ledderhose/Peyronie's is unpredictable, it can start or stop at any time as I've observed first-hand.
Over the years I've seen numerous posts from people who said this or that 'might have slowed it down' or caused a lump to seem 'a bit smaller'. I've never seen anyone describe actual reversal of a contracture, which is what really matters.

Jim H, True, progession of Dupuytrens, etc. is completely un- predictable. As for posts where this or that "might have slowed it down" or caused a lump to seem "a bit smaller" true also. Richard tried clobestal (sic?) cream, which some have had soften and flatten nodules with no results. Agree that help with contracture is the most important, however in some cases it is not all that matters. In Richard's case injections of kennalog have reduced some nodules and others have completely subsided. While that did nothing for con- tracture, it has made simple tasks such as opening a door knob, jar of pickles, etc. no longer painful. Use of hands has been goal no. 1, but pain reduction was goal no. 2. The kennalog injections have given him pain reduction.

Kenalog
Jim H, It is not just dr Ketchum who talks about Kenalog. See Wheeles' Textbook of Orthopaedics : "Dupuytren's nodules can be injected on a 6 week serial basis w/ 1-3 cc of triamcinolone (40 mg/ml). Patients may note a softening and flattening of the nodules over months;" Personally I had injections (just one series tho) about 15 years ago, given by my GP. They seemed (?) to slow down the disease.
