UV treatment
Hi All
I posted a message about a year ago that the University of Michigan would be beginning clinical trials using UV light on the treatment of certain skin conditions including dupuytrens (they are also using it for keloid scars, and scleroderma to name a few). The Trials are now commencing and I'm enrolled with my dupuytrens (Still stage one in both hands with four knuckle pads). The treatment is 28 weeks and I will post periodically with the results.
This is the second trial. The doctor told me in the first one they used UV-A light once a week and it did not have any positive impact on Dupuytrens. It did on scars however. He said the A light did not penetrate deep enough to break down the collegen. In this trial they will be using UV-B light wich is more intense and it will be given 3 times per week.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but who knows maybe some help is on the way.
