CVS arthricream

Val...thanks for the great info...one question, what is CVS arthricream? Couldn't find it at drugstore.com. Thanks, in advance, for the full name or where to find it. Jane

Arthritis Creams

Be mindful of other ingredients in Arthritis ointments. They may contain Glucosamine, Chondroiten, vitamin C, Aloe or Collagen, which in turn are Collagen producers.

Arthritis Creams

CVS is a chain drug store. Arthricream Rub is a generic version of some of the popular arthritis creams. The active ingredient is trolamine salycilate, which is like aspirin (as I recall) and is the only active ingredient in a rub that I could find any glimmer of effectiveness for in my search on the web. Still there is controversy over whether any cream works. You might want to do a google search on trolamine salycilate and read about it yourself. There are other creams out there that contain trolamine salycilate. Arthricream Rub contains 10% and is the cheapest (about $4.00 for 3 oz) that I found at the convenient CVS near me.

This cream does not contain any of the ingredients mentioned by JERRY, except Aloe Vera. This is the first I have heard that Aloe Vera may exacerbate DC. However, I am relatively new to DC research and JERRY is quite an authority, so the fact that I haven't run onto it doesn't mean much. I hope JERRY will respond with info on the dangers of Aloe Vera for suffers of DC.

There are 3 of my articles as well as other educational items that should be read by those new to the forum.

Aloe Stimulating Fibroblasts to increase collagen production

Hi Jerry,

I've visited the page you referenced and I wasn't able to determine which article might contain info on Aloe. I did a google search on aloe and Dupuytrens and ran onto a discussion of Aloe stimulating skin fibroblasts to produce collagen. I think the study was on mice and there was a question about whether it would hold true with humans, but I don't see any reason to find out by experimenting on my hand. LOL

So, I do not recommend Arthricream and I will stop using it myself.

One problem that newbies like myself have in researching DC is that as we progress in our studies, we begin to get more and more duplicative information until finally we feel that you are reading the same thing over and over. At that point we tend to start glossing over articles that appear to be a rehash of what we have already read. It is very helpful for us to put this information out there where more knowledgable folks can comment on it. Thanks for your weighing in on this topic and for supporting this forum.

Pain Relieving Cream w/o Aloe

Went to the medicine cabinet and found that I had another pain relief cream (active ingredient methyl salicilate (saliciate is aspirin). (Arthicream is now in the trash.) It also contains Menthol, carbomer, cetyl esters, emulsifying wax, stearic acid and triethanolamine.

Are any of these ingredients suspected exacerbators of DC?

Thanks.

I prefer not answering your questions in the forum.

You may e-mail me if you wish.

I once posted a note mentioning what I had done and created an uproar because as usual certain individuals jump to conclusions without having digested the message.
