Questions about N/A

1) Does the procedure simply sever the cord from your palm to you finger?

2) Can anyone who had this procedure comment on their long term success? (Does it need to be done again, does it grow back, etc)

3) Is it better to have this done early in the stage of the disease or should you wait? Right now my finger is still straight but is getting worse.

Thanks for your help!

Ed

When do you have it done?

Is it better to wait until the finger is bent more than X degrees of have the procedure done earlier? Right now I can lay my palm flat but my finger will not bend backwards at all and it's getting worse. Should I have the procedure done now or wait until it's bent more?

      Thanks for your help.

Correction of Dr Paul Zidel name

        Hi
Thought I better give you all the correct spelling for Dr. Paul Zidel, the paris-trained colleague who has joined Dr. Eaton doing the Eaton Paris Procedure for Dups.
He can be reached at The hand Center in Jupiter, Fl..... 561-746-7686.
but if you called directory assistance for the number, you'd need the correct spelling.

          The Snap!

According to my contract with Eaton, anything less than a 35 degree contracture is the proper window. Don't go past that. Other than that, there is no hurry. There must be sufficient bending in order to get the cord to "snap" when he pulls the finger back. And of course *we all* want to hear that nice Snap as our finger(s) release :)

              dupuytren~sq~s disease

Please tell me if you felt the needle process was successful, and what do you mean when you say we will be surprised by the statements of hand surgeons in our state? I live in Arizona. Thank you, JoAnn

                  NA in Atlanta

I just found out I have Dupuytren's and while looking on web noted this Hands Center with NA treatment. I called yesterday (2/2/05) and they are the only ones in the US doing this as of this date. I guess it is new and hasn't caught on yet.

                    Our Troll has another nickname

Dr. Bourland has never stated that he is an NA practitioner so there is no research to show that he is.
