Nodules

Randy,
Thanks for clarifying that. I was thinking it was all one deal. I learn a little more each day and the more I learn the less I like this ! Seems like some folks don't do to bad after NA or surgery and others have real problems. Looks like this is no different than some other medical problems. Seems like the best a person can do is hope it goes slow and maybe someone will come up with something fantastic soon. Again, thanks for the input and I hope everyone keeps sharing their knowledge. After watching these nodules grow and then seeing the cord appear to my little finger then learn what it really is I was devastated. I guess the reality is I don't have it near as bad as a lot of people so I will do what I can to get by and try and help others learn about this ordeal.
Thanks
Jim

Web Sites

Randy, I had previously looked at this site but because I am computor illiterate I did'nt realize there was so much info there. I started to take a good look at different things. Best I can tell I am in stage 0 or early stage 1. Time is on my side as far as I'm concerned so to hell with Dup and on with my life. I will definately pursue every avenue I can find to stop or slow this pain in the arce. Anything I can do to help anyone please feel free to ask. Maybe we can all learn something along the way !
Thanks for the guidance.
Jim

nodules

Jim,

I had NA from Dr. Eaton in February of 05. The fingers went from 30 degrees to flat after he performed NA on the MCP joints of the ring and pinky but the nodules remained even after he injected them. At his suggestion I had my local CHS inject them again in August but they still have not shrunk in size.

The PIP joint of my pinky has since gone beyond 30 degrees. As Randy mentioned this area is of a greater concern where it could be time to bring in the "big guns". I'd probably be ok by having it done here in California but I'm leaning toward the experience of The Big Gun who refers to himself as "Charlie".

PIP

Tommy,

Please don't wait on the PIP >30. PIPs don't come back to straight near as well as MCPs. Denkler should be back from France soon, if not already. It will be interesting to get his take on the value of their input. We all kind'a, shall we say, "encouraged" him to go. And he did.

So, Tommy, go ahead. Have Denkler do the PIP. You'll be doing us in CA a *valuable* service by adding to his overall PIP case experience :)

PIP

Randy,

On 12-26-05 you wrote, "An MCP would lean toward not as much need for the highest expertise, while the PIP could benefit from bringing in the Big Guns."

I responded that I'm leaning toward the Big Gun who refers to himself as "Charlie".

On 12-28-05 you said, "So, Tommy, go ahead. Have Denkler do the PIP. You'll be doing us in CA a *valuable* service by adding to his overall PIP case experience" :)

Randy, Dude, to what do I owe this distinguished honor of being your PIP California guinea pig?

PIP

Tommy, Dr. Denkler did both my PIP contractures in August and did a fantastic job. See his web site for before and after pictures of my hands. I'm still very pleased. He also successfully used NA on 2 nodules. wish you as good as results! Jey

RandyH,

Dr Denkler, as well as being a plastic surgeon, has a fellowship in hand surgery. He is a very well trained physician. Go check out his CV. I think your comment about him and the PIP joint was offensive.

I just don't get the derogatory attitude both you and Frances sometimes display towards the physicians other than Dr. Eaton. I know all is said in a "jokey" manner, but really.. I guess I would like to know what qualifies you two to singly handedly pass judgement on physicians you do not know and whom you have no experience with and who are performing techniques you yourself have no skill in, which would qualify you to discern what is real.

It can be irritating at times. Spare me the speech about how you have slaved long and hard on this website blathering -- go to medical school, do a residency or two and practice medicine for, oh say, 25 years -- and then I may listen.

Had to be said. Geez.

Hi Larry,

Sorry if I offended you. I don't mean to sound as if I favor of Dr. E. He was just the first to get trained, and is doing a study, some times I get lazy and don't use all the doctors names as I should when I'm speaking.

Please understand that I support and respect *all* doctors who have taken the time to get trained, particularly since we all know that it is a genuine expense and aggravation because of travel, food, lodging, time away from a busy practice, and then having to deal with the suspician/doubt from colleges when the patients start booking appts.

This is one of the reasons why I would like a formalized structure to our advocacy group. It would be nice to be able provide a formalized way of thanking the pioneering doctors who have taken the time out to do this for us - they all deserve the recognition for bringing NA to North America. It's not a small thing, it's a big thing. Please forgive me if I have appeared to be biased towards one NA-trained doctor in particular.

Take care, God Bless, and have a Happy New Year,

Frances
