antidepressants
JD, my sympathies! I am recovering from my 2nd surgery now, I have Dup's with a lot of pain but no contracture thus far. I posted my history in a lower thread, "Women under 40 with DC" if you're interested.
At any rate, I have been on an antidepressant for 5 1/2 years and my Dups only showed up last year, for what it's worth. I have eaten a lower carb diet and had excellent blood sugar levels for about 4 years.
Good luck, Melissa

progression
JD, a slow progession of Dupuytren without major problems in the first 10 - 15 years is not untypical, though there also also occsional reports on faster growth. Several people reported that after surgery or a rauma the growth became much more agressive.
The colagenase trail is probably still ongoing but no one knwos when it will be completed and with what result. I still hope for it. In the mean time NA is a good, maybe even better alternative.

surgery/agressive growth
Wolfgang, that is a fear I am trying to fight... I am a month post-op from DC nodule removal (no contracture) with three trigger fingers released and an ulnar nerve transposition. So far I am healing *extremely* well, but I do worry that my DC, which was already agressive, will worsen due to the open surgery. I try to focus on healing and not the unknown future, but it can be very hard, as we all here well know!

after surgery
Hi Melissa, just relax and keep in mind that only those people with problems end up in forums ... probably 80 percent have no problems after surgery. That's a much better chance than in a lottery and why should you not be the lucky one?
Wishing you all the best
Wolfgang
