alcohol
I see the association of DC with alcoholism, but no discussion. Has anyone seen improvements in symptoms after stopping consumption of alcohol?

alcoholism & liver
There's always speculation on this. Some think liver problems may contribute to Dups. Drinking excessive alcohol causes a number of problems. If it's a problem do research for naltexone or ReVia.

alcohol
It's about time this topic received some attention. Interesting why it hasn't been addressed more in the past. And, yes I for one have noticed a direct correlation between alcohol consumption and the activity of my dup's. I've given alot of thought to this over the past five years since starting to read this forum and have formulated numerous thoughts about this issue. If this topic generates any interest I'd share some of those ideas. I personally feel more discussion would be beneficial. thanks!

Smokers
There is also a theory that smoking is a cause of dups, but nothing conclusive. As for me: don't smoke - never have and drink only wine and not that much and I have aggressive dups. The research shows that heavy drinkers also tend to be heavy smokers, but again, no proof.
Also, a brother is a heavy drinker and no dups and another smokes and no dups. Simliar suggestions have been put forth about weight and I have seen where thin or trim people get dups (in my family), but heavy people do not. All cases are different, but I am a light drinker, non-smoker in good health and normal weight and I got dups. Go figure.

Alcohol
Alcohol can cause or worsen a paticular problem in a liver function which seems to have a connection to Dupuytren's.
However absent the liver function problem alcohol has no affect. At least that is what both my physician and surgeon have told me.
There is a similar conncetion to a thyroid problem and also diabietes.
After the second onset of Dupuytren's they did extensive tests on all three, and found nothing. I no longer remember what the liver funciton in.
