Carol -
Likewise, I never had pain in my fingers or hand - only curvature. Eaton is a hand surgeon who has dealt with all kinds of hand and finger problems, and you should properly get evaluated before treatment. If it was me, I would have that evaluation done by Dr. Eaton, either in person or by phone/photos/correspondence.

in the dark
Hello all,
Just back from seeing an O.S. for the first time. I don't know anything about this condition except I have it! As of today I didn't think I had anything except strange calous looking things beginning to grow in the palms of my hands and one foot. I will spend some time on the web to find out more of whats ahead. I'm 48 white male (norweigan descent). I've heard its genentic, more prevelant in males, and those from northern europe? Don't know what NA (procedure) is yet so I would welcome any advice or tips on where to get more information. I'll just "google" it for a bit and see what I can find.

Dark not for Long
Hi Joe,
If you have Dups, you'll appreciate this Forum. For my money the following address has the best info, links, and treatment option descriptions on the entire web.
http://www.handcenter.org/newfile16.htm
If you find a site as good, we'd all like to know. Study the Dups FAQ for a few days and you'll practically be an expert.
Sorry to need to welcome you here, but if you have Dups, *this* is where you want to be.

Q for Randy
Randy, you mentioned in one of your posts that you had Dup's tissue on the ligament band that connects the base of the thumb to the palm. May I ask, A) did you have any contracture there, and B) did Eaton do anything to treat it?
Best Regards, MML

Best Western
Darris, I had NA from Dr. Eaton in February and my wife and I stayed at the BW. They must have added a "Hand Center discount" since then. The staff was great and their humor was priceless.

Thumb Dups
MIchael,
The Dups fiber is on my *left* hand that had OS two years ago. This tissue is new growth, not there when the surgery was done. Eaton was working on my *right* hand,so he would not have treated the left at that time. I just wanted to know if NA would be of value if it got to be a problem. The answer was that *direction* of the cords makes it benign and not needing treatment It runs from the base of the left thumb up toward the closest first finger. As such it does not draw the thumb toward the palm and doesn't interferer with the hand's usefulness. Therefore it should never be a problem.
Dups tissue running from the thumb down more toward the wrist is the angle that must be dealt with. The thumb is the third most frequent digit to be affected. I advise you to grow your thumb Dups correctly!!
