I have no sigbificant input except to say that this forum has had only 2-4 dentists post over the past few years. The JADA has articles on occupational injuries (carpal tunnel syndrome) and does not mention DD/DC. My naive understanding is that DD/DC is a genetic predispostion that may manifest in the presence of trauma. Foreceps and elevators may contribute; I doubt that hand pieces and scalers are likely sources of trauma. Again, this is conjecture on my part. My Dupuytrens manifested itself after I applied great pressure hand screwing foot straps to my son's sailboard. Welts/callouses appeared afterwards and became contractures over the next two years. I might attribute parenthood to my Dupuytren's (or windsurfing.)
