N.A. Doctor
There is a doctor in New Jersey that performs NA. He is at the Central Jersey Hand Clinic. Tops in his field. I do believe that he performs it in a hospital setting under anesthesia. You would therefore have an initial consultation, the procedure, and then a follow-up visit. A little different than Dr. Eaton's procedure. Good luck and best of health.

NA Doctor - Anesthesia
Tom
I'm concerned about your story of this new Doctor in New Jersey. Anesthesia appears to have no place with NA proceedures and practices. With NA the patient must remain alert and is instructed to immediately siginal the surgeon should a nerve be hit by the needle head. I would not undergo the proceedure you have described.

What~sq~s his name?
Tom, It's great to hear about surgeons looking to avoid Traditional Invasive Surgery with less invasive procedures. However what you describe is, by definition, *not* NA for the reason described by Graeme. Because the surgeon can't see below the skin, the awake patient must help him guard against nerve damage by immediately reporting nerve contact of the needle. This is not "NA". Can you give us more exact info?

What~sq~s his name?
I am hereby convinced that this site is subsidized by Dr. Eaton. His name is in just about every post. My post received two responses, both questioning that such a doctor could possibly perform NA and not do it the way Dr. Eaton is doing it. I should have known better. Good luck. Ignorance is bliss!

What~sq~s his name?
Tom,
Why don't you give us the doctor's name? And your reasons for thinking he's 'tops in his field'? - MML

Forum content
Dear Tom,
If you read this Forum from from it's conception you will find that DC sufferers have discussed many many topics.
Prior to Dr. Eaton - France and Switerland were the topic of the day. The only reason why Dr. Eaton is discussed so much is because he is the first to bring NA to the States and because his website is so good - it explains the procedure beautifully.
Many of us stay here a) to provide some first hand experience and answer questions to patients about NA and b) which is the most important - we want MORE doctors to become aware of NA so they will want to becom trained. This would mean that NA might become readily available all over the world.
To this end we encourage patients to talk to their doctors about NA. Example: If you notice - the thread to the British patients - you will see that Needle Fasciotomy (NA) has only JUST been given the nod of approval in England. The purpose in posting that thread is so that Brit patients can ask their physicians (with confidence) about NA or Needle Fasciotomy as they call it. Since there are no NA practitioners in England - the more credibility given and questions asked - the greater chance a doctor over there will become willing to train - particularly if the patients are able to cite N.I.C.E. while talking with their doctors.
Occationally we have had physicians visit this forum and been happy to answer their questions too.
Then there are the theories, the alternative treatments (lecithin, Nattokinase), other issues like Frozen Shoulder, diabetes, life expectency, ledderhose, peyronies, etc.... that are all discussed.
I hope this helps you see the balance things. DC is so maleable and frustrating, at times it's hard to sort out what applies to us and what does not.
Take care and God Bless,
Glenda

New Jersey Doctor
Dear Tom
You posted a story on a NA Doctor at Central Jersey Hand Clinic - "tops in his field". You further say he performs NA under anesthesia - "a little different to Dr Eaton's proceedure" What Randy H. and I said in reply was to point out that the NA patient must be awake and alert the Doctor to nerve trauma. It is a MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE of NA. Neither Randy nor I mentioned Dr Eaton. Dr Eaton (more or less), does what he learned in Paris. Lets say there are about 15-20 NA practioners in Europe and the USA - none to our knowledge perform under anesthesia. So Tom when your post came along we wanted further information on this reported proceedure. It's not about our ignorance or bliss you speak of because we have asked you to explain. Are you able to give more detail?

Disappointment
As a new sufferer of DC, I was encouraged when I found this site.
However, it is a great disappointment and everyone should stop trying to promote their personal agenda's and no-one has any defense. Its uncalled for and utlimately has no value. To Frances, Francis and all the others under assumed names - you should be ashamed of yourselves.
THIS SITE IS UNLESS - I WILL NOT COME BACK.

The Forum
I have been an observer of this forum for many months. I would not have found Dr. Eaton without this forum. There have always been battles. Much of what we know comes from arguments. To leave this forum because a few posters disagree is foolish. The only one you hurt is you because you might miss out on the newest treatments or new doctor closer to you.
