NA procedure

I am having the NA performed on 5/18/06 by Dr. Eaton.
I plan to fly from Chicago, stay overnight and return the next day. I will be renting a car to get around and assume I will be able to drive OK. To those of you who have had NA any advice? Any flaws in this plan?

A piece of Cake!

What you are going to do until you get home is baby the heck out of your hand. You'll want to keep it elevated. You'll be applying ice on and off. I continued this on the plane ride home by bringing my own bagggie and asked for ice as I boarded. It will be numb for a 24 hours, so don't be surprised about that. Keep your baggage to a minimum.
Drive with one hand. The other will be numb.

A piece of Cake! The worst part is the "Wasp" sting as he injects the numbing agent. Ouch! But just lie back and enjoy his Oldies Radio Station.

Ask Eaton what number patent you are. Is it over 2,000 yet?

Tell Eaton we're all *thrilled* that he and his Tag Team got accepted to instruct at the ASSH convention. I'd let him use me as a subject but I don't need any more NA as yet :-)

NA post op concerns

Depending on the extent of your NA, it is minimlly invasive. I had two fingers treated on my right hand
in 2003 and the anesthetic wore off in about an hour.
(Dr, Eaton might use Marcaine, a longer lasting local
anesthetic.) I took no analgesics and had no swelling nor
pain. I avoided carrying luggage with the treated hand
and kept the bandage on for three days. My wife wanted
to nurse me, and was disappointed that there was nothing
to do. Every case is unique; however, the closest analogy
I can offer is that NA is like going to the Dentist for
a routine filling. Everyone is different; you know your
anxiety and pain threshold. Plan accordingly.
