Need some info please.

Hi, Two years ago I found a lump in the palm of my hand. It itches and can be painful. I went to see my doctor who sent me to a surgeon, who sent to another surgeon, who sent me to a nerologist, who sent me to an orthopedic Dr., who sent me back to my Dr., who sent me to another nerologist who told me it is a clump of fat that I most likely always had and just noticed it after 38yrs. This is a large lump that is slowly spreading across my palm. All of these Dr. did hundreds of tests.

Now I have a lump in the soul of my feet I can't see but can feel when I walk. I can't straighten my pinky at the pip joint or flaten it out when pushed against a table top. It is beginning to bend toward my palm and my ring finger is starting to do the same. There is locking of the pip joint in my pinky.

My question is how do Drs diagnose Dupuytren's Disease? What tests are involved?

Thanks for any help

Ultra sound diagnosis

Sandra - a good orthopaedic surgeon will be able to diagnose Ledderhoses Disease (LD) in your foot (related to DC in the hand)using ultra sound. After that the treatment will be his/her recommendation, but as most others on the site suggest avoid surgery & look for other options. From my experience nothing was needed to diagnose DC as it is more obvious than LD.

A Podiatrist has been able to help me manage the LD with Orthotics. It's still there and still hurts, but is manageable.

Good Luck

thinking

The more I think about this the more I think I don't have Dupuytren's. Wouldn't at least one Dr have recognised it? After all I live in Norway. They would have seen it. I think I should keep looking.

Thanks to every one.

Trigger Finger?

Sandra,

if you can force the joint open, could it be Trigger Finger, which is different from DC?
