Dr. Denkler

To heck with the research, use the money to pay surgeons to go learn it! "I'll give you $10,000 to go to France for a week" x 52 states = $520,000 to have one surgeon in each state ---- now if you exclude Jersey, Florida and California then it'll only be $490,000.

Actually it's no so insane you know...I'll bet all the ppl from Ontario who have traveled for NA would gladly consider a $500-$1,000 donation towards getting an NA doctor here....I know we would....providing we had assurances that it was a legitimate organization that raised the money (tax rcpt)....and a doctor had already agreed......hmmmmm????? Maybe something for the idea board?

Dr. Denkler

Hello everyone,

I visit this forum often, but post infrequently. This conversation compelled me to contribute. Dr. Denkler performed NA on my right hand (middle and small finger 40 degree PIP contractions) in October and November of 2005. Dr. Eaton performed the same prodedure in May 2004. IMHO, Dr. Denkler should consider visiting Paris this May/June to attend the French Open, at Roland Garros (he plays tennis, as do I), but not necessarily to receive instruction from the Lariboisiere teaching hospital. In fact, they might learn a more aggressive technique from him.

Dr. Eaton is French trained, relieved my contractions, and provided the relief I expected. And he's a great guy. We had a great time in Florida, and Key West became one of my favorite places. Within a year, I knew I needed a do-over. I discovered Dr. Denkler here, on this taken-for-granted, wonderful, Biospecifics dups forum.

The results:

1. Dr. Denkler's technique is more agressive than Dr. Eaton's. More incisions, more cutting/sawing/bending/stretching/breaking.

2. Less pain/blood. Using a unique cocktail of local anesthetics and epinephrine, my hand was blissfully unaware of the procedings.

3. 15 weeks later, still early, I know, my hand opens as it did 15 weeks ago, driving away from Larkspur up to Napa.

I'm praying that I don't have another recurrence. So far, so good. But if I do, I'll call Dr. Denkler

Dr. Denkler

Steve: I felt exactly the same way about Dr. Denkler as you stated after my session with him last August; as I have alluded to in previous posts. More agressive, better results. Jey

Paris

Just adding, if I am not mistaken, Dr Denkler did go over to Paris recently for the "training", either Dec or Jan?

Frances? RandyH? I know you know!!! :)

Research

According to his receptionist, Dr. Denkler *did* go to Paris for training in NA. She did not have more details as to who *exactly* he trained with, and I didn't want to push her further. However, I would take his French NA training as Gospel.

(If you want to know or verify something, pick up the telephone and go to the horses mouth)

California Practioners

I have been treated once each by Dr. Eaton and Dr. Lermusiaux. Both were very professional and I was pleased with the results. Dr. Lermusiaux was probably a little more aggressive. His experience was apparent ... like the highest order of the Teppan Chef. I think his eyes could easily have been closed during the procedure. I'm a Californian so I will probably meet Dr. Denkler next... not in a hurry though. Dr. Lermusiaux's attempt seems to be holding. He also cut cords on my feet, which I believe Dr Denkler will also do if appropriate. Dr. Lermusiaux prescribed colchinine for 90 days for plantar fibromatosis, which seems to have been halted as well. What amazing options we have compared to only 24 months ago.

The Cause of Dupuytren’s Disease: A New Theory!

Definitely a different world today than when I had my 2 (miserable) surgeries. I have a thumb contracture I'd like to do something about but frankly, I'm waiting for NA prices to come down in the USA. Maybe a foolish hope, but currently the price here is several times what it is in Europe, and I can wait a while. Not interested in another battle with the insurance company, referals etc. over reimbursement.

If I go to Paris again I'll try to see one of those MDs, they seem to be excellent and don't charge an arm and a leg to fix a hand and a foot :-)
