Clinical trial on the effect of 5-fu on DC
I ran across some info on a clinical trial on the use of 5-fu to prevent recurrence of DC in patients after surgery and thought that others on the forum might be interested. ("5-fu" is an abbreviation of "5-fluorouracil", a drug commonly used to treat cancer.) Researchers at RAFT at Mount Vernon Hospital in England noticed similarities between the behavior of DC cells and cancer cells. During initial laboratory studies in 1997-1999, they found that 5-fu reduced the proliferation of DC cells, and stopped them from becoming myofibroblasts. In the second phase of laboratory studies in 1999-2000, they found that 5-fu caused a significant reduction in the collagen production by DC cells. That finding led to the start of a clinical trial involving 16 DC patients. Each of the patients had surgery, and some of the fingers that were operated on were treated with 5-fu, and other fingers weren't treated. It appears that in at least some cases, patients had two fingers operated on, and one finger was treated with 5-fu while the other wasn't treated. The plan is to follow each of the patients for 2 years after surgery and see if 5-fu reduces recurrence. The trial is still in progress, but their web page says "Our results show that so far there is less recurrence in the treated fingers." Their web page indicates that they will likely do a larger clinical trial after this one is complete.
The people doing the study are surgeons, so they are probably trying to find ways to ensure that the surgery is a success. It would be interesting to try 5-fu without surgery, for example, injecting it into cords and nodules.

Fluorouracil
Here are two links on this treatment. Pubmed.gov is a valuable resource for dupuytren's patients. 5-FU had no effect on recurrences. Will it work for nodular disease or active flares?

Fluorouracil
You need to do the link at Pubmed.gov then search for Dupuytren's and fluorouracil this brings up the studies.
Also search for Dupuytren's and aponeurotomy to see published studies on NA One can also search by Author ie Badois at Pubmed.gov ketih
