Collarbone swelling

My father and 2 of his 4 brothers had Dupuytren's Contracture in their hands. I began with problems in the feet and when it later spread to my hands I finally made the connection. I visited the doctor who treated my father and he confirmed my fears. Being a female in my 50s who has it in my feet and hands, it seems I have a particularly aggressive form called Dupuytren's Diathesis. Of course, I had to find all this out myself on the internet. I have also developed a swelling in my collarbone where it meets my sternum. I have had an ultrasound and CAT scan which indicate that it is either fatty or muscular tissue growth. I am now noticing a feeling of tightness in my neck. Has anyone else experienced this? My doctors don't see a connection. However, hve read with horror where those with Dupuytren's of the feet were misdiagnosed as having bone cancer and actually had feet amputated. I am fearful of the uninformed doctors.

me, too

Hi,

I'm a 65-year-old woman and I see a couple of striking similarities between your symptoms and mine, though there are differences as well.

I've just diagnosed the two nodules and a band on my right palm as Dupuytren's via the web. The description I've seen matches what I see in my hand exactly, as I also have a small pit to the side of the main nodule. What's surprising to me is that I just noticed this in my palm two days ago yet it's quite noticeable, which seems to indicate that this developed almost overnight.

Last year, I had a very painful condition called frozen shoulder. While in the acute stage of that condition, my collarbone on the same side became noticeably swollen on the sternum side (also virtually overnight) and remains so today.

I found several articles indicating a strong association between frozen shoulder with Dupuytren's. I'm still looking to see if the swollen collarbone could also be related.

You wrote your message quite some time ago so I'm wondering how your symptoms are today and if you ever came across any other cases of Dupuytren's associated with swollen collarbone.

Thanks for any information.

Jo
