Shelly,
What surgery did you have? Trigger finger? Or What? I have alot of pain, but it is from a nerve from the tigger finger operation, and, it is in the same spot of the cord of the Dups. I am getting PT for it now, and the deep massage and therapy is working to relieve it, if you keep the massage up at home. It is from a scar tissue that forms around the nerve after that surgery somtimes. Especially on the middle finger.
Too bad for me, that the nerve damage from the trigger finger came up in the exact same spot of the cord and the therapist told me as he was massageing my hand, that he felt other noduals in the same hand.
I had no thought that this would help, but it has. It takes some real dedication to massage at home, and the exersizes.
Good thoughts for you.

Forgot to tell you, when I started to feel what I feel now, they told me the same thing. " This is not related to DC."
Need to do some more resurch. We can have this disease, but does not mean, that everything we feel in the hand is related. As I said, mine now, is a nerve, on the Same Finger. Scar tissue attached to it. We are breaking it loose in therapy.
I wish you the best.

young w/ DC

Patty,

Though not often a major factor in Dups, I have personally talked by phone with a previous sufferer who's main reason for having OS was to relieve intense pain from her Dups tissue. The surgery went quite well...textbook, and her pain was eliminated. Ten years later she had no recurrence. As much of an NA advocate as I am on record as being, here was a case where clearly OS may have been the better solution because it removed *all* the diseased tissue and stopped the pain completely.

In my nonmedical but informed opinion, Just because you have pain, that alone doesn't mean you necessarily have *other* problems besides Dups. NA can eliminate some pain as well. It did in my case, at least for the short term.

God Bless. May it go well with you.

young w/ DC

Shelly,

I am 36 years old and have DC in my fingers. I also had pain in my pinky where a large nodule was on the side of my middle joint. It swelled when I used it or bumped it and it did hurt. I had OS in Feb. of this year and some pain is gone but when I bump it is still can hurt and the scar tissue is tight where I had the OS . I have been in theraphy for 3 months but have stopped this month ( a lot of what I do there I can do at home) Just keep it moving and bending, night brace helps also to fight back more contracture. I have no other hand problems other than DC and still have some pain. maybe DC is more painful in fingers verse palm due to location of nodules. I also have small nodules on palm and they cause no pain at all. I hope this info helps and I to believe that DC can cause some pain.. J Ann
