Rzz, Good for you. It would seem that our host is willing to turn the keys over the inmates. An interesting development, considering the fact that we have done quite well here "unsupervised". The language is rarely too Blue, the off center whack folks are ignored, the Troll(s) (which a moderator can't stop without user names and passwords) only drag away hostages from time to time. All in all, we're mostly adults here and have self regulated fairly well. I lot of us have gotten fairly used to the free-for-all around here. In fact, in a way, it's part of the charm.
I'm not necessarily opposed to adding a moderator, but what exactly do you propose such a moderator would moderate? What is the *exact* objective definition of posts that would be removed? Who would make up such a list, and isn't that a lot of power to be put in the hands of One person? There are a lot of different agendas represented by frequent posters here. Who do we ellect..a Democrat or a Replicant? A conservative or a liberal?.......Pro NA?
I agree that this is not your normal forum. We put up with a lot of craziness. But it's working! Any and all opinions are expressed and judged by the readers on their merits in Open Court. Are you sure the restriction of the complete Free Speech we currently enjoy might, in fact, inhibit the free exchange of ideas that make this site the most powerful agent for change for the treatment of our shared disease that currently exists?......anywhere. Is it Broken?

Voice of Experience with being manipulated
I agree with Randy; let's leave the board where it is. As a PhD animal nutritionist, I happen to think that a lot of the claims for "nutriceuticals", especially as applied to Dupuytren's contracture, is complete nonsense. But I wouldn't want a single individual, including myself, to have the power to remove postings advocating these "treatments." As far as the occasional post that we are all agents of Dr. Eaton, as long as they don't dominate the board, I think we can ignore them.
Steve

Voice of Experience with being manipulated
Hi,
I don't want to seem suspicious but many of us have had to deal with a forum stalker during the last year and personally I would not put it past him/her to masquerade as a newly appointed forum moderator in order to gain control over us.
So to *prove* your powers...Could you please delete *THIS* post?
Thanks,
Frances

Forum Moderator
That makes no sense at all. The first question is why? To delete posting someone does not like? Let people post freely, which keeps the forum interesting.
Sounds like a trick to me. If a moderator is assigned, then its time for all to abandon the site. A moderator would inject personal bias and then - what's the point.

Well said, Frances. I agree. Prove it, moderator. This may very well be a trick of the lamer. By the way, it is great to see you back with your name, Frances. It is like meeting a long lost friend.
