to Marilyn, Francis, Paulette etc.,

Thank you Marilyn for your kind words too. I was so happy with the n/a results and now so discouraged. Just haven't had the time or the feeling to call Dr. Eaton but will tomorrow. My left had that was straightened is covered on the palm with huge cords and some are painful. Not planning a trip soon but will have to go and have these taken care of. Seemed to grow back in a couple of weeks. Hope that my stress didn't contribute to the fast growing cords.

to Marilyn, Francis, Paulette etc.,

Hello everyone, I am reading of all your troubles with lots of sympathy...
Just been diagnosed DC with rapidly forming lumps in both palms ( feet also painful).

I do not have DC in the family (arthritis, yes and I have it too.) There is NO links in my case to any of the 'suggested' causes. I live alone and use drills etc., for putting up shelves, so that may have set it off and I recently moved house, but I suggest that stress is a 'trigger' for ailments in general AND that mental relaxation can help. Easier said than done! But it is so good to know that there are people out there who can help, a kind word goes a long way. I am so scared, I need to go back to work again, 63 years old as my money has 'disappeared'. It has been an incredibly bad year and DC is the last straw. Perhaps that is why I have it?? I am researching this new-to-me condition as fast as I can. For me, it is a way of making informed decisions. Best of luck to you all.

Recurrence

I was operated on in 1993 for my left little finger. I've had no problems since then.

I saw Dr de Branche in Paris last October and he releaseed the middle, ring and little finger on my right hand (30 degree contracture) and the middle and ring finger on my left hand (also about a 30 degree contracture). I was able to lay my hands flat after the procedures.

My left hand has no recurrence. I can lift all fingers from a flat surface.

My right hand has recurrence in the ring and middle finger. I can no longer lift my fingers from a flat surface.

My left foot has 5 nodules and my left has 3. Both are occasionally painful.

I am returning to see Dr de Branche the first week of December. He will work on my right hand again and my feet a week later.

Regardless of recurrence, the prospect of surgery is not one I will entertain. Up to six months of recovery/rehab versus 2-3 days of taking it easy is not much of a debate.

Besides, who can complain about 8 days in Paris? Not me...

Candidate for NA

30 to 45 degrees contracture, however, you should send photos of your hand(s)/finger(s) to the NA physician for evalutation to see if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

NA

My little finger was bent about 45 degrees. Dr. Eaton set it straight. It is still straight after about a year. So 35 to 45 degrees is fixable.

How Long

Well, two or three years is what I guess. I am going on two years now. My fingers are still straight after NA. Some cords and nodules are reforming so I see trouble on the horizon.
