tomatoes!

Brian, thank you for providing the address of Dr. Rappoport! Is he someone we could recommend on our web site? From what Jey writes, he seemed to be satisfied with his treatment (right, Jey?).

Jey, I am starting to realize that just a little bit of pasta sauce won't make a difference (I had hoped it would)... 40+ tomatoes per day does sound more like therapy than fun ... I hope you won't plant carrots next year, too much vitamin A is is said to be poisenous ... Please don't forget to report how you feel once the season is over. We are all full of empathy for your experiment!

Wolfgang

Dr. Rapport

Wolfgang: Dr. Rapport is one of the Dr.s that was highly touted on numerous forum posts 3-4 years ago. I also think he has been, in the past, a contributor as well as a follower of this forum. I think he is one of the best in Europe, speaks great English, and is very personable. And by the way, cherry tomatoes are only about the size of large grapes and as sweet as candy, so it's not like therapy to me since I love tomatoes. Just a side note. Best to ya, Jey

This is very interesting I think and I think that this isn't so impossible that the tomatoes helped to stop the activity of Dups. The Lycopene in the tomatoes is one of the most potent carotenoid antioxidants. I am far away from knowing about chemicals reactions concerning Dups and oxidants but I think that it is possible that free radicals are contributing to the development of the disease.
I guess this theory will never be undermined by clinical studies so I would just say:
drink green tea, eat red tomatoes, watermelons and apples, take NAC on a daily basis and give the free radicals no chance. If it's not working for stopping Dups, well, what the heck, it's still very healthy and will keep your heart healthy. Once our hearts gets sick I guess we will all beg to get back to our lousy little "finger-problem".
