NA & Nodules

Does anybody have experience with NA breaking down/removing nodules in the finger? I have quite a large nodule growing a the base of the pinky and I wonder how effective NA would be at removing that.

My nodules are 80% reduced since I had NA.

nodules

Hi Marjorie

how long after your NA did it take for this 80% reduction to take place?

nodules

Hi Graeme,
It was very soon after the NA that I noticed my nodules were less obvious. Dr L injected the anaesthetic straight through the nodules above and below my little finger palm joint. Since then there has been a lessening of the nodules and they are now very small. My finger was very bad and I am sure it will need NA again but hopefully not for a couple of years. The cord is still there and is quite thick but my finger is still straight at present.

nodules

I had NA from Dr. Eaton in February 05'. He injected the nodules but they did not even slightly decrease in size. Dr. Eaton suggested that I visit my local CHS here in L.A. for another injection. I did that in August 05' but that injection also had no effect.

nodules

Hi all: I had NA performed in August, 2005 by Dr. Denkler, my second after the first done by Dr. Rappoport in Switzerland in Nov, 2003. Dr. Denkler did both my hands sucessfully; both were quite bad. He fixed 3 major contractures as well as fixing a Bout. deformity. After the procedures I also noticed needle holes in a couple of other nodules, that were not involved with contracture, where he had done some work. I don't know for sure if he performed NA or if he injected them with kennalog but I think he did NA on them. I never asked him at the time. Maybe I will someday because those 2 nodules have almost disappeared. Both my hands are about the same as right after his work on them done in Aug. 2005. Also, I might add, as someone asked on another topic: I also felt Dr. Denkler was more aggressive than Dr. Rappoport in that he spent more time, broke down more areas of the chords, and achieved greater contracture release, as well as the aforementioned nodule regression. Time will tell how long until reoccurance. Personally, I feel NA can, at the very least, do no harm to nodules. Hope the best to all, Jey...

kennalog

Jey,

I think someone once mentioned on this forum that kennalog injections were "extremely" painful. Any comments?

Kennalog Injections

Hi Tommy

I have had injections of Kennalog in my hands and feet. Kennalog does not cause the pain it's the the gauge of the needle and the area being injected. The immediate surface (outer layer), skin area has the pain receptors. Deeper in not many receptors at all.The pain in the hand is moderately severe and the feet is a higher pain level. The pain subsides very quickly. The secret is to steel youself to relax - the more anxious you are the greater the pain.
