NA procedure for Dupuytren~sq~s Contractions
Elbert,
I'll argue semantics any day of the week when the words are a misrepresentation of qualifications. Wanting to get things right.

About thirty years ago, the French rheumatologist, Dr. Jean-Luc Lermusiaux , first performed a percutaneous fasciotomy

For the sake of Clarity
Eaton: "Technically speaking, needle aponeurotomy is a *type* of procedure referred to as a percutaneous fasciotomy. "Percutaneous" means going through the skin with the smallest hole possible, and "fasciotomy" means cutting fascia, which is the layer under the skin affected by Dupuytren's disease."<END>
So NA is a unique type of percutaneous fasciotomy developed by Dr. Lermusiaux which *he* named Needle Aponeurotomy. I agree with some who have been around here from some time who feel that unless someone is trained in France they really can't call what they do "NA". Yes, they are doing percutaneous fasciotomy, but technically not really "NA". Both Eaton and Dr. Press have remarked that what they learned in Paris is *significant*, changed the way they did the procedure, and not to be minimized (they both had used needles to release Dups cords *prior* to going to France).

Tired of playing chess
Randy,
1) I think the origional post was made by our old friend, 2) he knew perfectly well that his post was misleading, 3) the words were carefully chosen to start a new expression as an attempt to gain control over the information surrounding NA qualifications.
Notice how he rebuked 'Wanting to get things right' for correcting him? Same style as before. Same nonsense. Same subject.
Clarification King.

Filling in he blanks
Senor:
While I share your enthusiasm, you must be aware that some cases of Dups still will require full Open Surgery. What actual % of cases is yet to be determined. However, I agree that it is unwise at this time, considering what we now know about NA, to opt for Traditional Invasive Open Surgery before considering this newer far less invasive first line of defense. OS is the backup should NA fail. As such, OS is quite "sane" when it becomes necessary. What is nuts, in spite of all the new data, is: "Do not pass go"......."Go directly to OS" before taking a serious look at this now proven alternative.
