Brian, I am interested to hear how you went with this Doctor. Is he interested in this procedure? I would appreciate your response.

N/A verses operation
Hi Ralph, On my post of 11/1 I mistakenly said there were no NA practitioners in Australia. I should have said that there are as yet no Paris trained practitioners. The problem with anyone doing NA without proper training is that they are not aware of how to avoid the nerves when performing the procedure. It is easy to damage the nerves if one is not fully trained. I personally would not let anyone touch my hands if they were not Paris trained. Marjorie

N/A verses operation
Terry. my wife has Dupuytrens contracture of left hand affecting little finger and middle finger. The local surgeon has recommended an operation, but have unable to contact anyone who has had the operation to discus results. After reading all posts on this forum the choice of having the N/A seems preferable. Can you give me some details how you went about contacting Dr Eaton"s practice, the cost in getting there, Dr Eatons charges, where you stayed and costs for the accomodation. Could you advise all in Aus$. Sorry to ask so many questions, but we have limited budget and would like to know if we can afford it. The problem is causing my wife great discomfort and some pain, so would love her to have the results all you people have achieved. She is frightened of having the operation. Her age is 65, dont know if this makes any difference.

Na Versus Op
Ralph,
In essence the major cost is the flight, we decided it was a good time to have a holiday so we stayed in some upmarket type of hotels, I believe it can be done a lot cheaper going to France than to the US. Its simply a matter of shopping around for the best deal.
The costs for the procedure when I had mine in October was USD$200 for the initial office consultation (about AUD$266) and for each finger $USD$500 (about AUD$665). If you are in Medibank Private try getting them to pay for the medical costs, I did very successfully, they paid for all medical costs, but not travel or accommodation. You can always try any other fund you are a member of.
Please be assured the procedure is nothing to fear, no worse than a sting when they inject the anaesthetic.
To contact Dr Eaton send an email to Teri, Dr Eaton’s very capable office Manager to info@handcenter.org
Teri will advise of some good clean accommodation near to the surgery, but even the closest is still a taxi ride away.
I am sure Graeme will provide details of the France trip, I do think France would be cheaper especially as its coming up to the high season in Florida and low season in France for holidays etc.
Good luck, if your wife would like to talk to me leave a message here and I’ll email you to get your phone number to call.
Reading the posts here I don’t think age will matter at all.

Colin and Graeme Brisbane
Hi Colin,
Sorry I haven't been on the site for awhile, been off sailing with my beaut hands! If you need any support in Brisbane, EG if the medico wants to talk to me as a second opinion, I am happy to attend any meeting.
Hi Graeme,
Good news re your procedure, I too have Ledderhose on my left foot, one big nodule which I have done nothing about. Do you know what cortisone you were using to reduce the size of the nodule? I know my GP would be happy to administer a shot every six months if it means reducing the size or hardness.
Likewise, if you need any support etc yell out!

MBF
Hi Glenn,
MediBank Private has a special purpose fund. The Fund is able to make payments for leading-edge clinical intervention procedures that meet the qualifying criteria, such as new drug therapies, surgical procedures, and treatments not usually covered under Medibank Private’s rules.
I applied to the fund for consideration through their web site. A research Doctor was appointed, and after some weeks of research the research findings were put to the special purpose fund board for consideration.
They approved the expenditure based on an estimate I supplied, they asked foe a report pre and post procedure and paid the medical expenses.
I guess as much as anything it also validated that the procedure was “main stream”. In fact they are staggered no Doctor in Aus has taken this on board!
Hope this assists, I would ask MBF if they have such a scheme, If they would like to know who the research Doctor was I am sure I can get permission to release these details.
Good Luck,
Terry
