Confessions of an NA Advocate

Folks,

Sam's spin left out a thing or two. The CHS I refereed to is a past President of the American Society of Surgery of the Hand. He has been discussing Eaton's work with his colleagues and he is planning attending Eaton's presentation at the Society's convention next year. A year earlier he had discarded NA as worthless, but now he is going to check it out. And in *my* particular case he's recommending NA for me with Eaton rather than OS should I need another procedure.

No, no huge deal. What I find significant is this. I *personally* failed to influence my surgeon regarding NA in the least. However, directly because of *this* Forum, and the efforts of many over the last Five years, one of his colleagues *has* been positively influenced and brought NA to his attention in a way I never could have. That's the Power of the Internet. Any Boy Howdy, am I ever *ashamed* of being a part of that!! I don't see how I can live with myself :)

Working On It

Jack,

Not yet. Eaton's working on it though.

I had not seen sam's post from last year for some time now. It's amazing how fast the naysayers have scattered since Eaton has been accepted to present to the next ASSH convention in September. Here's a quote from old sam: "......no-one can say that NA results in far less nerve damage than NA"

Having been quoted recently as saying exactly that, Eaton will be saying to the ASSH convention that the rate all complications including nerve damage is 100 times greater with Open Surgery than with NA.

No one sam? Just a guy who has done 2,000 of these puppies. How many have you done?

We are still at just 1% NA of all medical interventions for Dups. That has got to make you sick for the 90% who are still not informed that they even have a valid option.
