New diagnosis today

Well, I went into the PT guy today, and he said what I had was a way long problem with the tendon from the trigger finger operation. After the trigger finger surgery, I did experience for months, a problem with my hand and finger. Six months after that , I went back to the hand surgeon... he saw the cord in my hand, and seemed to dismiss the other symptons.
Well, seems that from the trigger finger operation, I developed scar tissue around the tendon. Now, I am in painful therapy to try to break up the tendon from the scar tissue.
The Dups cord is there, but , as the therapist said, that is a strange place to find Dups. In the Middle finger. But, it is there. Big huge cord in my hand.
All in all, all of the trauma, from this finger and hand, just might have triggered the Dups.
They will give me hand therapy for a month, if that does not work, they will go in and try to remove the scar tissue from the tendon. Not a good surgery. I do have a well known Plastic and Hand surgeon.
Say some prayers for this.

Patty,

If you are going to have Dups, at least you had the good sense to grow into to the middle finger. Nice job. You see, for whatever reason, the first and second fingers rarely contract. The Pinkie first, then the Ring, and then Thumb. Go figure. I started on my right hand with lumps and bumps and a slight cord toward my right middle finger, but the Dups went for my ring instead. It just doesn't seem to care too much for the other fingers all that much.

Am I right? Do you have a contraction of the MCP or PIP of the middle finger?

Best wished with the tendon.

In our house it was the pinkie, ring finger THEN index finger - go figure. The thumb has not contracted at all.

Well, you are both right. The therapist says it usually shows up in the ring finger or the pinky. As he was massaging it today, he did mention the huge cord in the middle of my hand, but also found a nodule that goes to the ring finger too. I just think it showed up on the middle finger because of all the trama it has taken. We are trying to free the tendon from the scar tissue, from the trigger finger operation. Let me tell you, it is no picknik. Very painfull exersizes. But, again, in the process when he does the massages he can feel several noduals for the Dups. Most that I did not even know were there to other fingers. This is going to be a trip in learning about how this all works. The therapy is very painful for the hand and finger. Hope it works. Then, I can go on and deal with the Dups. Funny this all happened with one surgery, on one trigger finger. This is the pitts.
