Had my fourth NA yesterday! Don't know if I hold the record, but I really feel like a veteran! I started in 2004 with Dr Eaton in FL (1 right middle PIP, 1 left), then was overjoyed to find a doc in NJ, and had my second left middle PIP last June with Pess. Had the 4th (left middle PIP again) yesterday. All went well - about a 40% inprovement. I'm back at work, and typing - some minimal bruising, but that's it.
I know I have an aggressive case of this @$#& disease, but I am so thankful that NA is available! Imagine if I had to have OS four times!

I would like to mention that it seems to me the cord progession might have been *turned off* by the low carb, low glycemic index diet that I recently started. I'm continuing the diet, so I'll keep you all posted if the progression has slowed. Makes sense to me since diabetics have a higher incidence of the disease. Glucose may be a trigger. Things that make you go hmmmmm. Do miss the carbs though.

About the diet

Glad to hear of your success. I'm especially interested in the diet.

I'm hypoglycaemic and have been on a ketogenic diet for over a month now. I have two small nodules; one in my left foot and one in my right hand.

Prior to the diet I was constantly aware of the nodules; as they were tender and inflamed and caused a good deal of cramping. Within days of starting the diet I realized that I had all but forgotten about them. When I checked, I was amazed to discover that they had receded to the point where I rarely think about them anymore.

I have slipped a few times and eaten carbs or had a glass of wine. My nodules flared up immediately and receded again, once I got back into ketosis.

I used to dread washing dishes or standing in the shower because they were most noticeable when wet. I couldn't walk barefoot without pain and I had severe foot cramps in the mornings. It seems too good to be true, but all of these problems are gone.

Have you used ketone test strips during your diet? In the absence of research on this subject, I'm interested in anecdotal evidence that maintaining ketosis has an effect on Dupuytren's.

I agree, low carb is extrememly difficult; especially trying to maintain ketosis indefinitely. Please keep us posted regarding your progress.
