Proof of dups being caused by surgery

In March and May of 2004, I had bilateral carpal tunnel surgeries. Within 6 months, I developed dups in both hands.
The doctors tell me it's not related.
Has anyone been able to prove otherwise?
The doctors, also, tell me it's painless. However, my hands ache all the time. Moreso when I have to grip something. Do any of you experience this pain?

Pain

Mari,
Most doctors will tell you that, seemingly all over the world.
And, they are wrong ! Lots of DP patients have pain (now I am sure somebody in here is going to respond he/she doesn't have pain ... it's not a black and white thing). And, there are too many people who developed DP after some hand surgery (including carpal tunnel) to call it a coincidence.
Of course, DP has to be latently present (genes).

One more thing : in their whole schooling and training, doctors (I'm not saying hand surgeons, but general practitioners) spend about 5 minutes and one page on Dupuytren. This probably explains why several doctors don't recognize DP when they see it.

Dups / CT / Pain

A couple of things to add for consideration:

I developed Carpal Tunnel CT) about twenty years ago, but did not have surgery. I changed jobs and lifestyle. However, I'm the only member of my immediate family to have either, so I wonder if its possible that CT could a marker of future dups.

As for pain: I had no pain before surgery and very little afterwards. However, in the couple of years before surgery, I noticed that whenever I did yardwork or building projects around the house, my hands were sore and very tender and I remember being confused by this as I have a construction background and was not physically working that hard. The dups was clearly present and may have produced associated pain.

Also, for what its worth, my general doctor recognized dups as soon as I brought it to his attention and I think its more widely understood by the medical community than is sometimes suggested in this site.

propecia/finasteride and Dupuytrens Disease

I did not have pain for a long time, but now I do as it has progressed. The pain and stiffness is through the cord, and up into the finger. It hurts to do things with that hand. I have some swelling at the base of the finger on the hand also. To make a fist is painfull, or to grab onto something. It hurts to just open and shut the hand now. So, as My Doctor also said to me " There is no pain" He is wrong in my case.
