Returning to golf

Are there any golfers/NA patients that can share their rate of return to the golf course? I have appointments with Dr. Eaton March 9th & 10th.

Golf

I think you can go back to golf within a few weeks of Eaton doing his number on you. I had Eaton do my right hand a year ago. I think my fingers bend a little more after I have been to the driving range hitting two large bucket of balls, so I would take it easy.

Jim,

It depends on what hand leads the golf swing. I was a right-handed golfer about 10 years ago when I made one fat swing of the 3 wood. I let out a scream that could have been heard the other side of the course.

To make a long story short, I severely damaged the ligaments on the back side of the (lead) left hand and had to give up golf. My CHS said an operation wasn't worth the risk over golf. Within a year the palm side of the same hand started to wrinkle and the fingers eventually bent. In the meantime I discovered that if I addressed the ball (hello, ball!) from the other side "left handed", there was no pain.

So, after I had NA from Eaton in Feb. 05, I was back on the course in 3 days. By the way, I shot an 82 last summer and hopefully this year I'll be one of the few who has broken 80 from both sides of the ball.
