Skin graft

Hi Has anyone had a skin graft placed over the skin after the dups have been cut out and if so has the dups returned? and does the hand look as though something is not normal after a skin graft? Does anyone recommend a skin graft?
I've already had hand surgery about 4 years ago on right hand to remove lumps but the dups are back and are now on both hands. Any feedback would be good. Cheers and dont let this disease get you down!! Robert

Skin Graft

Hello Robert

I don't know about hand skin grafts but I had a fascia excision and skin graft on my foot for Ledderhose.
It is believed that by removing the fascia section of the skin the medium for the nodule to grow is taken away.
Apparently there are very few recurrences recorded in an area where there's a graft.
I have not had a recurrence in that area on my foot but several outbreaks of nodules took place shortly after in other areas.
Things to consider: how old are you, will you be using your hands a lot, do you have a fairly aggressive form of the disease, consider less aggressive options?
Surgeons can be persuasive in pursuit of more complicated and expensive proceedures.
The skin on the graft area will IMHO be less resilient like paper compared to a cardboard box. There may be some deadning of the nerves.
I would get a second or even third opinion before making this decision.
All the best.
