Healthy lifestyle

I have DD and am only 23. i have had nodules for a couple of years now and went to a natural therapist for advice. i have no contractures but have large nodules on my knuckles of my right hand(all but pointer finger) and nodule on ring finger left hand! I also have the nodule on my foot. I am trying a healthy diet ie no alcohol, no dairy(it contains growth hormones), i am taking calcium flouride tablets(aids in flexibility), no coffee or acid forming substances also trying to stay away from refined foods and aftificial sweeteners. I am mixing with my filtered drinking water a tonic to help remove metals from my body also. Not to mention stretching my hands often to train my body to keep flat hands. I think if we keep our bodies healthy then DD will not be encouraged to show through. I also believe this is why it's an older persons disease because the body is beginning to weaken. I am aiming to offset the appearence of this disease in me for as long as possible by maintaining a strong body. Not to mention i will look 15 years younger when i am 40 or 50!!

acetyl-l-carnitine

I think Steve who started this topic will report his own status here very soon.

Meanwhile, he had wondered (in an earlier post below) whether it was the colchicine or a-l-c which was helping.

Eight others of us have been experimenting with a-l-c (some almost for 6 months) to see if we could shed any light on this question.

Around the 15th of January I'll start a new topic where we can all share our results.

I'll post an alert on this topic too, so you won't miss it!

Stay tuned.

Susan

still working...

For me, whatever I've been doing has kept my contracture in check for over a year now post NA in August 2004. I did have to cut my colchicine dose down in April though and felt wacky for a week after that so I'm inclined to believe at least the colchicine is helping me if not also the ALC. While I think the bands are growing more in my hand they haven't done anything and my feet ache on occasion these days. That's the extent of my problems now. It'll be interesting to see what others say in January when people report back in.

Has anyone tried the colchicine? Or is it ALC that people have tried?

Collagenase

Ivan,

We don't get to hear from people who have had Collagenase too often. Though some feel the project is dead, I'm still optimistic. Can you give us the particulars? What joint was involved? What was the beginning and ending degrees of contraction? Apparently you have had little or no recurrence, which is good to hear.
