what is the usual technique and why?
i had dupuytren's surgery six months ago and have had complications. after seeing three hand surgeons to give me second opinions, it seems that my complications may have occurred because the surgeon who operated used straight incisions instead of zig zag (or z-plasty).
For those who have had open surgery for Dupuytren's, can you share with me which type of incisions you had on your hand and why not the other type? And of course, whether you feel you had a successful surgery....

Zig Zag
Hi Bob
I've had two OS operations. Both were Zig Zag. I have spoken to many other DC people and they all had the Zig Zag incision.
You will have to get an explanation from your surgeon as to why he/she chose the straight line method. You have surely done the right thing by getting three other opinions because of your troublesome straight line incision. What where you told? Why do you think the straight line method weny wrong for you?
In any event you say the other surgeons said the straight incision MAY have caused the problem therefore it is possible it did not.
You pose an interesting subject but most members of this forum have very little medical knowledge or surgical training and IMHO it is unwise to try and solve individual medical proceedures through this forum.
