Jerry,sounds like a skin split from were your finger was contracted.On your 2 week follow up visit ask the doc about a little silver nitrate tratment.It will help with the scar and close the wound faster.It takes like 5 seconds but it helped me alot.Dave

triple antibiotic ointment some 4x4 guase and a roll of coban tape you be good to go.when it starts healing get some vitamin e capsules and cut them open and apply to the split it helps alot with the scar and healing.the splits are the worse part.I had one about the same spot from my january injection.It will be closed and healed within a month not without a little pain though.Dave
That's exactly what I have been doing. The wound is still open but then again it's only the second day. The thing that concerns me is that when I open up my hand and straighten out my fingers the wound opens up so I am undecided as to how I should keep my hand wrapped.
this occasionally happens after Xiaflex or NA . Not a big problem but your doctor should have taken care of it. Did he not do anything?? No comment, no advice, no bandage? Wolfgang

No comment but to exercise it which I won't be able to do without ripping it open again if it ever closes. I have it un-bandaged right now to give it a little air and have to keep dabbing it. He did wrap it up but by the time I got home it was bleeding through the bandage.
The thing I wonder about the Xiaflex is the "trauma"? Many people use "trauma" as a reason not to have surgery for Dupuytren's because it might stimulate future growth. It seems like the "trauma" from the Xiaflex injections/release is every bit as much as that from surgery. Does this seem to be any concern?

At least after surgery they stitch you up. After Xiaflex they (at least my doctor) leave the wound open. I'll be very surprised if this heals before I go on vacation.

IANAD stitching wounds requires taking up slack in skin, which in many cases of skin splits from straightening fingers either does not exist or would mean contracting the finger again. In the "old day's" wounds were not stitched but left to heal open. There's a UK doctor who leaves many skin splits open after Xiapex but I don't know what dressing is applied. Even so in your case I am surprised an aseptic dressing has not been applied as it's so hard to keep hands clean. I would ask a nurse, more so than a doctor, for a suggestion but let him/her know about how it has happened and the desire to keep the finger straight during healing. As an aside some (Dupuytren's and other) surgeries do not stitch afterwards.
Cujok,Doc also had me doin epson salt soaks with warm water this seem to heal and make the split much softer.I was folding the 4x4's into like 2 inch squares then apply your triple then wrap it up.Its alittle bulky but feels nice and warm and helps when bumping it.Your finger looks good and straight.You wont even know you had a split in 3-4 weeks.Dave
