News about Germany!

Hi All
Well, I've had my first round of RT and am feeling somewhat more sore than usual, but am sure I will feel better soon. I'd like to compare notes with others, who I from the posts I've read may have also felt a little more wonky than usual after treatment.

The MRI measured my nodules at 6cm x 3.5cm on the left and 3cm x 2.5cm plus 5cm x 3.5cm on the right foot with cords on both sides. The treatment itself was painless and there were no immediate or visible side effects from the RT, although my feet did get a bit tender and the nodules harder by Day 3 of the treatment cycle.

Since back, the nodules have been harder and more compact than before the treatment and my feet tend to get hot and red when my temperature gets slightly raised (e.g. after eating or if dressed too warm). I've often got a bit of a nervy ache around the balls of my feet, probably due to a notable tightening of the tendon, so they feel a bit more tender than usual. I've had a bit of tingling at times, especially when my feet get hot and the tiniest bit of itching. I am walking a little more carefully and much less than usual. I find I need to keep my feet up more.

I've been applying 20% urea creme twice daily (mainly for the massage!) and my skin in the treatment area appears normal. Massaging the nodules helps as it softens them and this sometimes lasts for a few hours.

I definitely haven't been doing any exercise and the Prof has suggested I 'not overdo it' while I'm undergoing treatment. I'd like some more detail about what 'not overdoing it' might consist of, if anyone has any suggestions.

At this point I'm happy just to rest my feet completely, until my feet feel less tender. I guess I'll let my feet be my guide.

All the best
Di

Re: News about Germany!

Hello Di

It's three weeks since I had my hand done in Germany. I reported back in the first week that it felt more sore than normal then, and it still does. It is slowly settling down though. Because of this I have avoided pressing and feeling the nodules too much, but visually there is a flattening of the palm when stretched. I have not suffered any problems with dry skin, although I have occasionally rubbed urea cream and Lotil cream into the palm.

Best wishes

Hi spanishbuddha
Good to hear from you - that's good news about your hand flattening down. My feet are worse in the evenings so are stinging and burning a bit right now, but it's manageable knowing it's likely to improve things in the long run.

I wonder what the after effects of the next cycle will be like. I'm not sure I would have wanted to do two cycles consecutively. Grateful for the recovery time.

Take care
Di

Massage for Ledderhose Foot

Massage of Ledderhose sole by Yourself ....

Prof. Seegenschmiedt suggested to me for better metabolism and perfusion to use a special ball for my feet to massage my self wherever it appears painful and tender ...

In Germany its quite cheap and costs about 5 Euro maximum. They come in differen sizes ... and colours !

I am using the RED one ... All the best to you, Larry

Re: News about Germany!

Hi Di!

After my experience I would say be ready to really "baby" yourself for a while! My feet also became worse at late afternoon/night but I think it may be related to the activity I had during the day. i.e. standing, walking... I had the nervy ache around the balls of my feet as well.

My doc told me not to overdo too....LOL I don't know that anyone really knows what that means as it is prob. different for each person. Would love to hear others opinion on that too!!

How was your trip overall? When do you go back?

Debbie

Re: News about Germany!

Yeouch! Yes, it looks a bit scary, especially when suffering extra tender feet, but I'm sure it does a good job. I was scared of the tennis ball at first, but now it gives me a lot of relief.
Prof S. told me that these conditions might be encouraged by hypoxia (lack of oxygen in the area) and this arthritis ball helps to keep the area well oxygenated.

Re: News about Germany!

Hi Debbie
Interesting to hear that you have the same reaction to RT as I have. Yes, I'm babying my feet - that's a good way to explain it! How are you feeling - still the same, or do you feel that you are turning a corner and seeing some improvement?

I really enjoyed Hamburg, it's a beautiful city. The weather was a bit cold this time of the year, but the people are warm (!) and there's endless things to do and so easy to navigate around. I managed to see a few things including the Botanic Gardens, the city highlights (old churches etc) the harbour area (through meandering canals - Hamburg's version of Venice) and see some local art exhibits and culture (museums and local performances).

Wishing you lots of sprinkle cupcakes to make you feel better
Di

Re: News about Germany!

Cyclist, debrr,

I have to say, you do give me second thoughts about RT. I think my feet would have to be worse than they are, now, before I'll go.
Can't you email Dr. S. and get details about specific activity restrictions?
Have you tried Chamomille lotion to decrease the inflammation of your skin?
I will be keeping tabs on your progress, and wish you both healthy feet and hands!

Re: News about Germany!

Beth, I am very sorry if this has scared you in any way! I thought this forum was for sharing our experiences (good or bad) so we can help one another, especially since there is no definitive "cure"! I really hope your feet NEVER get any worse!!!

The first time I saw Dr. T. he announced his goal was to make my feet weight-bearing, even though I walked into his clinic and continue to walk! I hope this can give you some idea as to how far my LD has gone.

Debbie
