Re: Ledderhose

flojo:
I had RT done for Dupuytren's on my right hand by Dr. Tripuraneni 3 years ago. He knows what he is doing.

RT was successful for me. No new nodules have formed in the radiated area. RT isn't effective on cords, but the existing cords have been under control. I did have NA done a year ago and wear a night hand splint.

I feel confident in Dr. T. I believe RT will be successful. Luba had him for RT on Ledderhose in her foot and Dupuytren's in her hand, with great success. You may find her posts about it on this Forum.

Good luck! Look forward to your updates over the next year as the treatment takes effect.

Hi flojo,

I had RT last year - March and June - in Germany on both my feet and my left hand. Dr. S warned me that my hand might be a little too far advanced for the radiation to be effective. I'm very happy with the results of my feet but the cords kept progressing on my hand which was causing my finger to curl enough for me to have NA done last week. Immediately my finger was straight which still amazes me. Since you've gone through the same procedures, I was wondering if you've had any regrowth of your cords. Most people have to have NA repeated - usually in 2-5 years - but my doctor had never done it on someone that had previous RT treatments. I'm hopeful that the cords may not regrow or at least not as quickly.

Thanks, Diane

Re: Ledderhose

Hi Diane,

I had NA first to flatten my hand in Feb 09. In July '09, I had RT. I had NA done again in last July 2011.

I see NA as like a maintenance program. I do think the night splint is making a big difference in keeping it from getting tighter and contracting. I don't think it will make NA unnecessary forever, but it will spread out the time between treatments based on how my hand is now after the last NA. On the other hand (no pun intended), I did not have RT until 5 months after the first RT. I would have had it right away, but my personal schedule caused me to delay gettig RT. Dr. Denkler said that NA after RT is no problem nor is RT a problem after NA. I had NA before and after RT.
