Re: Radiotherapy in Germany

I'm back there first week in June.

Did you read the personal experiences here http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr...xperiences.html including the most recent one by Di/cyclist?

Re: Radiotherapy in Germany

I had RT in Germany (Hamburg, with Dr. S.) in March. I posted a pretty detailed report on 3/17 in the Dupuytren forum. I'm going to try to paste in a link to it, but I'm not sure how that works. But if it doesn't work I'm sure the post won't be hard to find.

Anyone should also feel free to message me if you have any questions. I had a wonderful experience in Hamburg in every way and am very glad I went.

The only thing I am waiting for now is to see what kind of reimbursement I get for the medical costs and for my travel expenses. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Good luck to you!

Maddie

Re: Radiotherapy in Germany

Thank you so much, I spent sometime reading all the information last night that is on the forum and also trying to work out the underground system, which stations go where etc. I must admit that over the years I have become rather blasé about the internet, but with such tools as google maps, this forum and various trip organisers it makes such daunting visits so much easier.

Really silly really, but the cheapest way to get to Hamburg for me is to fly into the UK from France and then fly out to Hamburg. Flights from France are so expensive (as is nearly everything else now). I made the mistake of booking my flight into the wrong airport, Hamburg-Lübeck, but at least there is a shuttle bus to Hamburg ZOB.

Once again thank you

You want the U1 line between Langenhorn Nord and downtown Hamburg, or the S1A line between the airport and downtown. The S1A also connects to the U1. Trains are regular every 20 mins or so outside commute times, and run like clockwork - or is that in Switzerland :-) For my first trip I stayed close to the airport hence clinic and made daily runs into central Hamburg. For my next trip I am staying downtown and will do the reverse.

Re: Radiotherapy in Germany

I can second all with my very positve experiences with Prof. Seegenschmiedt,
a very thoughtful physician, very diligent in his physical examination and with
excellent manners both as physiacian and as a human.

I also know that he is fluent in English, French and Italian language as we shared
some views about our children in school and their lesser requirements as compared
to ours in the 60es and 70es in the last century () ...

If you go their with DD --> YOUR HANDS ARE IN GOOD HANDS -
or if you walk there with LD --> YOUR FEET HAVE WALKED STRAIGHT
exactly as the words say it !

Re: Radiotherapy in Germany

Hello again, just to let you all know I am now in Hamburg, got here this morning, flew over from France to UK, then out to Hamburg, security was a nightmare in the UK, I nearly missed the plane because of the delays.
Anyway managed to find my way around, mainly because of the all the valuable assistance offered on this forum. I also managed to get myself a rail card before I travelled which was waiting for me at the hotel, so I can go out and about without too many bills.
Met the Prof. whom has had a good look at my hands and I start treatment this afternoon, so pardon the pun but fingers crossed!
best wishes
Robert
