I did look at the list but was hoping that someone may have had personal experience with one of the Drs.

There are some threads which you might find useful, e.g. http://www.dupuytren-online.info/Forum_E...is-0_283_1.html

The forum also has a search function (see top menu). Use "search in topics and answers" to get the most results.

Re: N/A Doctor in Southern California

Thank you.

I was able to read through many comments regarding UCLA and Dr. Benhaim.

I have actually made contact there but have been waiting for a few weeks to try and get this process going.

Does anyone have experience in how long it takes to get an appointment? The office seems to be extremely busy and somewhat unresponsive.

Also does anyone know the costs of the procedure performed by Dr. Benhaim and how it is billed? Out Patient surgery?

Thank you.

Don't know if you are interested in a Dr. near San Francisco....but my experience is with Dr. Denkler...I travelled from Los Angeles area to have NA done by Dr. Denkler in July 2006 because I had read so many positive posts about him...(even though there was a Dr. much closer in UCLA).

Dr. Denkler (and his staff) was wonderful, and I would highly recommend him. He did a great job on the contracture I had on the pinkie finger, PIP joint at 45 degrees, but the contracture returned before a year.... but that is just the nature of this disease, not the Dr.'s fault...not all cases are alike, and PIP of the small finger are very hard to correct.

I wouldn't hesitate to get NA re-done when needed... let me know if you need further advice.

Re: N/A Doctor in Southern California

To Bon....just noticed that Wolfgang referenced a link to a previous post with lots of interesting information on both Dr. Denkler and Dr. Benhaim...read through it to form your own opinion.

By the way....after my PIP contracture came back, I did go to see Dr. Benhaim at UCLA for a consult for an eventual repeat of the NA procedure...it took forever to get the appointment and I would not choose to have it done there. The place and the Dr. are way too busy for me.....I am sure that Dr. Benhaim is a great doctor and has had many patients with good result... but I prefer the experience and the more personal approach of Dr. Denkler, if its a choice between the two. (but that's my opinion).

Actually I am scheduled to have the NA repeated by Dr. Eaton in Florida in March (I will be there on vacation)... I'm hoping this time I will be luckier and it will last longer.

My first procedure I paid about $800 cash and Blue Cross PPO reimbursed most of it....

What finger and which joint to you need done? Best of luck.

I, too, went from So Cal to Dr. Denkler. I happen to have family in NorCal and incorporated a visit. I live 2 hours from UCLA, so I could fly up to Nor Cal within that time.

I read a post about a year ago about the Doc in Long Beach. As I recall, it was a positive posting, but that's all I know.

Forgot to say, I think Dr. Denkler is great. Very responsive. Office staff and Dr. Denkler and his wife, also a doctor are very personable and professional.

Larkspur is a really neat town in Marin County. Very pleasant experience.

Dr. Grabow ( www.drgrabow.com ) in Las Vegas is another choice. Last May he treated both my hands. I waited about a month for my appointment. He and his staff are pleasant, unhurried, and quite competent. You can send him pictures for evaluation which he follows up with a free phone consultation.
