Dr San francisco area

Hi ,I am new here and have fairly advanced Dupuytren . Does anyone know who is the best Dr in the Bay Area or is there someone out there working on something new . I was going to see Lisa Lattanza but she got some bad reviews .Any help would be great .It has finally got to stage that it is making typing hard .I put treatment off as I had to deal with the big C ,that is done with. Now I have to deal with my hands .Thanks for any advise ,I will travel anywhere .

Perry,

Agree 100% with the previous poster. Dr. Keith Denkler in Larkspur is highly recommended. In my case, I flew up from LA to have him perform NA and it was one of the best decisions I ever made - full stop.

Hi ,I am new here and have fairly advanced Dupuytren .

You didn't say where in the Bay Area you are but if you decide to go to Dr. Denkler he'll probably recommend OT hand therapy afterwards. I was fairly disappointed in Hand Rehab Assoc. in RWC that he recommended to me several years ago after I saw him.

After my NA treatment last year I did a search on my own and discovered Redwood Hand Therapy http://www.redwoodhandtherapy.net/
which just happened to be conveniently located for me. I see Donna Eakin, one of the co-owners and it's definitely worth the trip especially for her expertise in making hand splints (I've also hand hand splints made at Stanford in the Xiaflex trials and at Mills Peninsula Hospital and Hand Rehab and Donna is heads and shoulders above in addition to very effective hand therapy treatment). I've also been told that Dr. Denkler is now sending patients to Redwood Hand Therapy.

Good luck on your consultation and procedures.

Diane

Re: Dr San francisco area

I have been seeing Dr. Denkler since 2007 and he has by far the most hands on experience of any doctor in the western USA and has done fasciectomies and Xiaflex and NA on many hundreds of people and continued to refine his techniques. His experience makes it possible for him to know where Xiaflex will be most effective and safest and where NA is going to be more effective.

I have had him inject Xiaflex three times and do NA three times on my hand. The last two times in 2013 he did Xiaflex and with the followup manipulation of the hand he also did NA where the Xiaflex had not been enough. Cost was no more with the NA than had he done the Xiaflex alone and the results were much better.

With Eaton retired an argument could be made that Denkler is perhaps the best there is. And a great guy as well. Really cares for his patients. I will not hesitate to fly up there from LA when and if I need more NA. My disease has been dormant for 10 years now.
