Re: Dupuytren contracture and painful knuckles
Hi LunaLee,
welcome to our forum! If you have time you might read about some of the treatment options described here (in the above menu click on Treatment an select the treatment you want to read about).
Minimal invasive alternatives to the classical hand surgery are needle fasciotomy (also called aponeurotomy) and injection of collagenase.
If you have questions, just ask them in our forum.

Re: Dupuytren contracture and painful knuckles
What is "server Dupuytren contracture"?
What has your doctor told you? How many years has this been a problem?

Re: Dupuytren contracture and painful knuckles
Thank you, you are probably correct. I thought it might be something about a "server" who holds water glasses all day and the hand forms around the cold glasses of liquid. Stupid me !!

Re: Dupuytren contracture and painful knuckles
My knuckles are very sore but I think it relates to my job (computers/IT) and my hobby (pianist/music producer). Basically, my knuckles are akin to an athlete's knees.
If you're 36 with that severe of dupuytren's, in both hands, even... man, I feel for you.
Which joint? DIP, PIP, or MCP?

Phenobarbitol and seizure disorder
Hi,
I'm new to this site. I'm a 47 yo woman with DC in both hands, have had frozen shoulder in both shoulders over the years AND RSD (reflex sympathetic dystropy)! I have been taking Pheno since 1986 when I developed a seizure disorder. From what I've been reading on many sites, there could be a correlation between the long-term use of the drug coupled with the seizure disorder and all of these changes in my soft tissue. Has anyone else experienced this or knows of this? Doctors, even my orthopedic surgeon seems to be baffled as to why several years ago I began having all of these problems. Incidentally, I believe it all began in the 90's with painful PIP knuckle joints that got swollen, tender and red in the right hand. That is where my DC is severe. I just had Xiaflex injections today and will have the manipulation tomorrow. Any info could be very helpful. Thanks.

Re: Dupuytren contracture and painful knuckles
Nancy Welcome to the forum. It might have been better to open a new thread on this, but no matter. A connection has been discussed on here before, many times, see for example http://www.dupuytren-online.info/Forum_E...=0&thema=21 Or just use the search box on the site.
Best wishes for the outcome following your treatment.
