Don~sq~t touch that foot
the lump i started out with was in the center of my arch on the tendon to my big toe on my right foot. it was a little smaller than a marble and felt like a fiberous cyst. it wasn't something that started out tiny and gradually grew. it seemed to appear almost overnight and stayed that size untill i had it removed (mistake #1) six months later it suddenly appeared twice the size and in three months it grew to the size of a golf ball. at least it stopped growing now. i can not stress enough that unless it is painful or hinders your life, live with it and leave it alone

Don~sq~t touch that foot
Kenny, My experience is very similar to yours. The "marbles" in my arch appeared about two years apart (first on the left foot). My doctor first thought that I had just injured my arch and it was the remaining scar tissue. It was not until I was diagnosed with DC, that he realized that it was connected. I had to tell him. To his credit, he did tell me the whole time not to have surgery on the tumors. My tumors in the arch have almost disappeared now, after 10 years. I think that often, the amount of stress applied to the arch has a real relationship to the amount of growth and discomfort. In my case, the tumors have decreased with my change. I walk more and run less. I am careful about going up and down stairs barefooted, or walking in sand barefooted. It was when I first realized that the burning sensation I felt was actually an injury taking place. I am very conscious of having proper shoes. Using tools, like shovels, over an extended period of time seem to be very detrimental. I think that exercise is still good, but a person needs to be cognizant of the type and relationship to DC. To ignore DC can create a problem. Gary
Similarly, The DC (dermal pits) on my right hand have shrunk in size since becoming more aware of less stress.

DC & Lump in Arch of Foot
Hi Everyone,
Only recently did I develop DC. Two or three years ago, overnight, I waked up with severe pain in my foot when I got up and and walked, and discovered a lump in the arch.
My physician tried to draw fluid out, and sent me to a podiatrist. I had already been diagnosed with rheumatic disease about 3 years prior to this, and the podiatrist said it was related to my illness, and we did nothing. It took time, but did go almost completely away.
It was recommended to me recently that I get orthotics to go in my shoes. Also, running shoes were said to be better for the feet than regular tennis shoes since they distribute pressure better.
I am thinking that the lump in my arch and the DC in my right hand are related. Reading your posts also lends to this conclusion. Thanks for your input.

orthodics
Hi All Went to podiatrist who suggested I get-orthodics for my feet since I have large LUMPS under both arches.
He swears Medicare WILL NOT PAY for these appliances. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any special CODING I need to have him put so I can get at least SOME of the 350 bucks back ??
Thanks for your input. Happy Holidays !!

David and foot nodules
Search on the web for "ledderhose." That is the pedal version of the hand malady: Dupuytrens. This site offers some information. To fast forward towards treatment opportunities, please consider contacting Dr. Lermusiaux at L'Hopital Lariboisiere in Paris, France. He expresses some success with cortisone injections followed by Needle Aponevrotomy. You will must read many threads and send an email and pictures to Dr.L. Search the web for Dr. Badois Dupuytrens forum. Proceed from there. I will not respond further. Good luck. (Avoid foot surgery.)
