Hypothyroidism

Hi Barbara
the actual cause of Dupuytren's is not known to medical science so it is problematic as to what one can do to intervene in the Dups progression.
Diets have been discussed on the forum. One lady embarked on a "Atkins type" very low carb diet designed for Epileptics. This diet is on the internet and is a very tough regime. Not many can stick to its requirement for long. She reported sudden loss of weight (usual), and reduced nodule size soon after starting the diet. We have not heard from her again.

Dupuytren~sq~s and Hypothyroidism

Graeme, I appreciate your information. It would be worth it to me to try an “Atkins-type” diet to see if it would help the “flare ups” that I’ve encountered. Dupuytren’s is said to be a “painless” disease, but you couldn’t prove it by me. During an active time, both palms hurt, and the nodules are very tender. To be able to function without the pain would be worth sacrificing sugar. I’m going to give it a try and will keep the forum informed on how it works for me. I'm also considering seeing an endrocologist to get input on the connection between the two diseases.

Barbara
