Had NA yesterday in my right hand

I had NA yesterday at the hospital in Peterborough, Ontario with Dr. Nimigan.
I arrived at about 8:55 am and was brought straight into the room where the procedure was to take place. I was asked to lie down and rest my right arm on a support attached to the bed. We chatted for a couple of minutes. He then asked me to raise up my right arm to sterilize my hand and then lowered it onto a sterile towel. Next he went about freezing my hand. I'm OK with needles and they just felt like mosquito bites. A few mins later he was making the tiny incisions and cutting the cord. The plan was to just do my pinky finger but also worked on my ring finger in a couple of spots. He did bend back the fingers and I did hear a tiny snap sound.
He finished up, cleaned my hand off and showed me the range of motion I now have. Bandaged it up and said freezing should wear off in a couple of hours. Suggested I could take pain killers if I wanted to later.
I was on my way in about 25 minutes from arriving to driving home.
Did not need the pain pills and freezing was still not fully gone by bedtime.
I took off the bandage this morning and washed up. All I see are a bunch of black dots. I will take it easy while my hand heals. He did not think that I needed night splints so that was good. I am to bend back my fingers during the day to flex them and that's it.
I started out with about a 40 degree bend and now it's not quite straight as there is a large node below my first knuckle so he could not get to the cord there.

All in all - I am happy with what was done and would have no fears about having to do again if needed.

Regards all and good luck with your treatments.

Brian

Hi Brian, glad to hear everything went well. Did you discuss RT with Dr. Nimigan? I was wondering if he was a "believer" of RT. Also was his 1st response OS or did he suggest NA?

Brian,

I'm glad to hear that your NA procedure went so well. Isn't it amazing to see your straightened finger? :)

We did not discuss RT and it was his suggestion to do NA. He was scheduled to do 7 of them yesterday and does upwards to 20 a week.
