Re: How to contact Seegenschmiedt

Thanks for the Essen recommendation, I will put that on the list of options.

I wish American insurance companies would do such a reasonable thing as extend coverage abroad. Unfortunately they operate strictly on a "network" basis, if the doctor or facility isn't in the network you're out of luck, and doctors in other countries are considered out of network.

Even with Dr. Wong being in my network, I'm expected to pay my $1700 out of pocket maximum for the treatment if it is approved. This is why I went to Dr. S in the past and why I wanted to see him again, because I'd rather pay a little more to see someone with decades of experience. I'm hesitant to start over with a new German doctor, though, when I have this option closer to home. It's been a tough decision... I have a past history of my hand being treated with RT by an American doctor who didn't treat a wide enough radius and it continued growing; when I went to Dr. S he said the region wasn't big enough, and treated a wider region. Left hand has now been in remission since 2011. I'm hoping this doesn't happen to me again with my foot, and I expressed concerns about the treatment radius to Dr. Wong but I don't think he understood.

Currently waiting for a meeting to be scheduled between Dr. Wong and Cigna, because for some reason they partially approved only 8 out of the 10 treatments needed. Fingers crossed Cigna can be convinced it's necessary and they give me a full approval.

Re: How to contact Seegenschmiedt

I was hoping wach would weigh in, but last I checked about a month ago he was still in off. Maybe check out the suggestion for Dr Herkstroeter in Frankfurt, unless there's someone closer to where you are?

Re: How to contact Seegenschmiedt

I was with Prof Seegenschmiedt last January for RT in my foot and for the second session in April, as professor Seegenshmiedt was already on leave, I was treated by Dr.Antje Scheffler.

I sent an email in the beginning of the month to the clinic but I still got no answer.

Re: How to contact Seegenschmiedt

My understanding is - but I might be wrong! - that the Hamburg clinic is not into treating benigns diseases, like Dupuytren`s, but is focussing on cancer. It was Prof. Seegenschmiedt who brought radiotherapy of DD to Hamburg and since he does not seem to be in Hamburg anymore it might well be that they will stop treating DD there. But that`s just speculation from my side.

Strangely Prof. Seegenschmiedt is still featured on their website. If he no longer practices there it is really time they update their information if they don't want to answer phone calls.

Re: How to contact Seegenschmiedt

I am worried not being able to contact Professor Seegenschmiedt.

I was diagnosed by him in january this year. The second week of therapy, in Apri,l was already with another doctor.

I am not sure about my Ledderhose evolution and It would be very reassuring for me to be able to email him.

At this moment I have doubts of what to do if I find another nodule out side the area the first treatment. Do not Know what I should do.

I gave up emailing the Hamburg clinic as I got no answers to my mails.

I read somewhere, may be in this forum that professor Seegenschiedt used to work with another doctor.

Does anyone know if it would be easy to contact this other doctor explaining my doubts and fears ?

Re: How to contact Seegenschmiedt

Prof. Seegenschmiedt used to work with Dr. Yilmam in Essen (see Spanishbuddha's earlier post in this thread) but I am not sure whether they would be able to handle patients from abroad. Our website is listing 3 additonal clinics in Germany, which will be treat patients from abroad http://www.dupuytren-online.info/radiotherapy_clinics.html (scroll to the end of that page). But why not consult a clinic in your country? Where are you living?
