Clinical trials for LD???
Why are there NO clinical trials for LD? I only see trials for Dupuytrens.

Re: Clinical trials for LD???
Just a guess, it is a pretty serious thing to experiment with feet, if a person ends-up unable to walk, due to pain or instability of the foot. You could almost view the early surgeries as clinical trials, because it was learned that a person might be worse off afterward. We have to use our hands constantly, but we don't have to bear weight on them. On the other 'hand', there are probably many more people motivated to get their hands functioning and presentable, again. My orthopedic doc did mention that I might consider being a guinea pig for xiaflex to the feet, because I have mostly cords. I'm not ready for that, at this point. Should that happen, I will definitely post here. Beth

Re: Clinical trials for LD???
just a guess...LD is usually more about nodules and less about cords and contracture. Xiaflex works on cords.

David,
Exactly. That is why I said it was suggested because my LD is mostly cords. Niether my DD or LD are typical. Both started with cords, and the DD started with my middle finger and thumb, rather than the typical small and ring finger. I am actually getting toe contractures, which also is not what LD is 'usually' about. I think one thing we have all learned here is that there isn't much that is 'usual'. Also, the thread wasn't only about Xiaflex. I just made a mention of what had been offered to me. Sorry that seemed to bother you. Beth

Re: Clinical trials for LD???
Beth, my response was to the original post. Sorry, I didn't read your post or I would have worded mine differently. My only purpose on this board is to learn and help if I can. David
