Please help!!!! Has anyone got any ideas on my condition??

Hi all, I've just got back from my first ultrasound on the lumps in the arches of both feet...
I've been playing golf three times a week for two years with no issues not to mention 10 years of 60-70 hour weeks as a Concreter before that and my feet have never been a problem, Not until approx 2 months ago when my feet started really hurting after I played golf and about 2 weeks ago I noticed a lump right in the middle of the arch but on the inside ( under my big toe ) on either foot, then last week after playing golf i was in so much pain I could hardly walk, the lump on my left foot swelled up to the size of 2 golf balls, the lump stretched from the ball of my foot to my heel and looked bruised it goes back down after 8-10 hours of rest but after 1-2 hours of activity it swells back again and becomes too painful to walk on...
When It swells up I lie on the couch and put it up , for the first two hours it'll hurt even though I'm just lying there resting it then it settles down and is ok as soon as I start to walk on it again it starts hurting immediately and after 1-2 hours It again becomes too swollen and too painful to walk on..
The lump on my right foot Dosnt seem to change it's still the size of a single golf ball...
Does anybody have similar symptoms and what is the condition called???

Re: Please help!!!! Has anyone got any ideas on my condition??

Hi DK

Who did the ultrasound and what was their conclusion? It's problematic to make a diagnosis of anything via the Internet and based on just a description. There can be quite a few reasons for lumps and swellings in the feet, especially those that appear after exercise and then go back down. I would ask a podiatrist in the first instance and discuss the possibility of Ledderhose (Plantar Fibromas) or other likely causes. A mass or nodule in the arch could well be Ledderhose, but your description suggests inflammation elsewhere too.

Best wishes

Did this lump first appear in the foot in the middle on the large tendon that goes up to the big toe? And, do you have high arches? My first lump appeared right in the middle on this tendon, but since I had high arches, I didn't suffer too much - at first. Then, the lumps seemed to run down that cord, until it felt like one long bumpy tendon, then, others appeared - but, in the other foot? It began the same way.

And - mine are bi-lateral - what's on one foot, is in the same spots on the other foot!!

Hard to say, since your lump sounds awfully big before you had issues, but you need to get an idea of the 'make-up' of this bump - is it hard, soft, or malleable? And, does it feel connected to a tendon or BURN? Ache? Burning is a sign of LD, but usually when they first appear. I first noticed playing Golf, I would get done, take off shoes, and feel an achy, burn at the bump site. and feet felt swollen, but that might be from the golf shoes.

Hard to tell, but you need some more info - and yes, this stuff does show up on X-rays. It's weird looking, sorta like strands - the X-rays I got last year? The tech was really baffled looking at my scans - she had never seen anything like what she was looking at. And, it is surprising where it is now. Under the skin at base of toes, hard to tell if it's a callous with a bump underneath or what!

But, there is a large bump under the third toe that is wide and the skin on the feet seem to know the bumps should not be there, and the skin thickens and forms callous areas as if to try and protect the feet. But, when this happens? It makes for uneven soles of the feet and holes will form in my socks where these bumps are.

Hope you find out soon if you do or do not have LD.
