Quick treatment options for Ledderhose nodules
Night before last I suddenly experienced severe pain in my foot when walking--a week before we are leaving for Europe. There is a small, slightly hardened area at the center of the painful area.
I saw a podiatrist yesterday, who thinks that it is most likely the very beginning of a Ledderhose nodule that happens to be in a bad place. I have Duputren's on my hands fairly badly--had NA on three fingers of my right hand and will have it on my left hand when we return home--and have had one nodule on my foot for some time that hasn't posed any problem.
The current "nodule" is near my heel, not on the ball of my foot. It seems to be in-line with the other nodule, which is on the ball of my foot.
He gave me a cortisone shot, which he thought was my best bet (only) shot.
I'd be interested in any similar experiences anyone has had, and any advice for a quick fix.
Thanks.
Marian

Re: Quick treatment options for Ledderhose nodules
Hi Marian, steroid injections are common for treating Ledderhose. They can soften the nodule and hold bback the disease for a while. See also http://www.dupuytren-online.info/ledderhose_therapies.html
Enjoy your trip anyway!

Re: Quick treatment options for Ledderhose nodules
Thanks. From what I already knew about cortisone--Dr. Denkler plans to follow up the NA on my right hand with some cortisone injections--I agreed that it seemed like the best bet. But the forum always has good ideas, so thought I'd pose the question and see if I got any other good suggestions. I guess I really want to hear that cortisone is a miracle--all be it short term--cure and that I'll be fine!!
