Surgery For Plantar Fibromatosis

Hi Everyone,

I am brand new here and have been reading lots of posts regarding opting to NOT have surgery on the feet.....................Well wish me luck (LOTS OF LUCK) cause I am going for it. I work retail and am on my feet 10-12 solid hours a day so I REALLY NEED this to work for me !!!!! My surgery is scheduled for July 27th. Dr. recommends having both feet done but we are doing the left first. If I am lucky and it is a success I will let you all know and go for the right foot after Christmas.

Nana :)

Hello,
This is my first time on here and (yours) was the first item that I read, simply because I too, am facing a situation where I am not quite sure what to do.

And from looking at the dates on here....I'm typing into ""cyberspace"""??

Did this person have the surgeries...and what were the outcomes (Your results, with yrs gone by?)

Re: Surgery For Plantar Fibromatosis

Hi Sandra

The last post I could find from Nana was here http://www.dupuytren-online.info/Forum_E...-this-1_22.html

I guess you know by now that the consensus is surgery for LD is really to be avoided if possible, or left until there really are no other choices. There are the usual possibilities of recurrence, and the difficulty of recovery of foot surgery in general. It is worth trying alternatives, starting from orthotics, steroid shots, ESWT, etc, and RT. Have you checked out Gary's blog, he went from hobbling with a cane, to now a badminton coach, after having RT, and the blog covers all the possible treatment choices. He also has a forum for LD.

Successful surgery is possible, but you need an experienced surgeon with a history of success in treating LD via surgery. Sadly we rarely get reports of such success on this forum.

Alright then, I started an [answer] msg, a while ago...thanking you first of all.. but, I'm not going to re-type all of it again...So then, as I was typing out my conversation....I lost it somehow? Thinking it may have had to do with tapping on my [tab] key...wanting to change my paragraph arrangement.?

Also, in agreement with the concensus...no surgery!
