After I first had my surgery, my doctor acted like in 4 weeks I would be back to work pounding my foot in cement for 7 1/2 house a day. I thought he was crazy and after going back to get my stitches out he said he didn't want me to put any weight on my foot for another 4 weeks. I go back to the doctor today and this is my 7th week out of work and I still can't put weight on my foot, I have tried and my foot swells so bad. I am hoping he will tell me I can submerge my foot now so I can take a bath instead of just showers. I did get an infection in my foot a week ago but started taking antibiotics and I also put antibiotic cream on it and it got better.

I just want to get back to some king of normal. I am going to lose my job over this surgery.My company will not allow you to be out of work long than 12 weeks and you must be able to return without any restrictions....I can't walk, there is no way I can go back to my job walking (practically running) for 7 1/2 hours a day on cement in steel toe shoes. I also need surgery on my right foot, it was the worst and I was having trouble walking before I had surgery on my left foot, but the doctor wanted to do the left one first....now I am being hung out to dry. I can't walk and I can't work. I also need really both my hands done ( I have Dupuytren's too) I've already had my left hand operated on and it needs it again, but my right hand is really bad. I need to have something done before I lose my insurance.....

My dad had Dupuytren's, my brother has it and I have two Uncles and an Aunt that also have it, but I am the only lucky one that has Ledderhose. I am only a 49 year old female.

I am doing fair. I still am not walking great, but I can get from point A to point B, sometimes with a scooter. My doctor mentioned about going back in my foot that I had surgery on back in June. No more surgeries. My right foot is bad too, but it will just stay bad. Since my surgery on my left foot, my Dupuytren's in my right hand has fired up and knots popping out like popcorn.

It's a never ending fight.

Hi Lisa,

I feel you girl and know all about the scooter. It sure gets old though. I'm with Spanishbuddha, if RT is an option it is well worth considering. I wish I had known about it before surgery, which obviously made things much worse for me. So far RT is the only thing to have helped. I can wear shoes I couldn't have thought about a few months ago and flex my foot like a ballerina again. Pray it holds!

I was afraid RT would be out of pocket but insurance actually paid. I don't think they want me to have any more surgeries. The contracted price is not nearly so high per session as I have seen some people say, so I could not have justified going to Germany.

I don't think RT is an option here in the states. Some places may offer it, but it's probably far and few between.

I am in southwest Virginia, but at this time I have no insurance, but the insurance that I did have wouldn't even pay for orthotics. I am out now on long term disability.
