TX Doctors Specializing in DD
Hello everyone,
I am a 28 year old that was diagnosed with dupytrens 1 year ago. I do not have a contracture as of yet but one nodule and one cord exist in my right hand on the pinky side. I have been to two hand surgeons who both told me to “wait and see”. Is there anyone on this forum who has seen a doctor/surgeon in Texas(preferably near Dallas) that has taken a more active approach?

Re: TX Doctors Specializing in DD
That's a little young for radiotherapy (usually 40+ would be OK, although a few kids had been irradted but only in very exceptional cases). For you a "wait and see" approach might actually be the best for the time being. BTW, with respect to life style smoking causes an earlier onset of Dupuytren's and heavy drinking makes it more likely to develop Dupuytren's. Besides not to smoke and not to drink much, there is probably not much you can do right now. Surgery is only recommended when you have contracture and surgery at young age might result in recurrence anyway.
